16 teams make it so much more competitive though. Seven countries have made their debuts since Euro 2016 considering 24 teams now compete which I think is a negative

It was better, but sometimes very good teams were not qualifiied ... but nowadays some groups are hard, and some not ... 2024 Group B : Spain, Italy, Croatia ... same as 2012 :) and Group C England has Slovenia , Denmark , Serbia ...

👍, súhlasím euro 2012 bolo lepšie, ale vtedy jednoducho boli lepší odvážnejší sebavedomejši hráči, teraz je to fudbal zameraný na samu defenzívu, jednoducho teraz je fudbal o peniazoch a nie o výkonoch na ihrisku

The 16-team Euro format was much better than the current 24-team format. Only the best played at the European Championships, and the tournaments were of a higher standard. Euro 2016, played in the new format, was one of the worst major tournaments ever. On the other hand, the tournament lasts longer today, and Euro 2020 was one of the best, after Euro 1984, 1988, 1996 and 2000. 😀

Yep, head-to-head is what counts, completely unfair in my opinion, it basically means that Russia's 1 win against czech Republic was worth 3 points whereas Greece's win against Russia was worth 4 points, to be fair all wins should be worth the same number of points.
