Mate half of the games were decided on penalties, there was no single entertaining match after the group stage and the final was ended by the most awful rule (the golden goal) on a massive mistake by the goalie. The tournament was terrible

Whatever you are describing it was not Euro 96. Regularly cited alongside Euro 80 as the worst tournament. Knockouts were awful. Lack of goals. Overly defensive and lacking quality. Penalties everywhere Final was a let down too with a terrible winning goal

the first football tournament I watched on television.. the most memorable tournament in my life

Самый странный че на моей памяти ...чемпионат в самой футбольнобезумной стране стадионы не большие казалось бы..но нет игры при полупустых трибунах, ну это никак не сочитаемые вещи непривычно было это наблюд...а причина банальна цены такие залупили на билеты что даже британцы безумцы повернутые на футбике забили на него, ну и приезжим тоже не по карманы вот и получили зрелище!))

Alongside 2016 as argulably the worst Euros of my lifetime. Group stages were decent, especially the final rounds, but boy the knockouts were awful. Few goals, cagey defensive games and too many games petered out to penalties. The winning goal in the final summed up the competition as a whole
