No other brass instrument comes close to matching the beautiful tone of the euphonium. Have played the euphonium since the 5th. grade am 87 and still playing in two bands.

Same here it’s the best instrument

I've played euph a little and it is such a fun instrument to play. Brass quartets are always so pretty

I love euphonium 😍 wonderful!

I play the euphonium, and I never really like to listen to myself play because I don't think I sound good compared to the rest of my band, but hearing how pretty my instrument actually is, I think I'll play louder. Thank you!!

I've liked this march since the high school band I was in played it (I was playing euphonium). This arrangement is a good one.

A lot of practice. Listen to great euphonium players and record yourself and try and replicate their sound. It's a little hard to give specific pointers over KZread comments, but think a LOT of warm air (like you're trying to fog up a window) and try and be as relaxed as possible in your face and throat, let your air do the work for you.

Good sound on euphonium? First off super fast air for great sound and stay relaxed and remember good posture and it’s kind of painful bc most kids have bad posture

when going to higher notes espically, try to keep the corners of your mouth tight, but relax the facial and neck area. Compress your chest to produce a higher, but still clear tone

I love this! beautiful sound! I am going to learn Euphonium eventually, don't think I'm going to do good on it, though. I'm native to Bassoon and I played Trombone for a year, so do you have any tips for beginners?

+Blue Powerade The best thing for a beginner that I can think of is don't think of the Euphonium as a valve trombone (given your background). Think lots of warm air, and try to have a relaxed feeling as you play. Listen to some good euphonium players (Brian Bowman, Steven Mead, The Childs Brothers, and others) and try and find a sound that you like and replicate it as close as you can. Above all, have fun, and happy euphonium-ing! Sorry it took so long to reply!

+Blue Powerade relaxed and controlled embouchure, don't go blasting like a trombone on a euphonium then you'll sound terrible. Euphonium literally means "beautiful sound" in latin. please don't butcher the name

+Daniel Johns Always keep your corners firm, they're the base of your embouchure. When ascending/practicing your high range, It helps to know EXACTLY which note you want to come out. If you can learn to sing the pitches and hear them before you play. That is Rule #1. Rule #2: is (this is kind of odd but Steven Mead uses the same theory) to whistle the pitches, as your tongue position and airspeed are very similar (not identical, some adjustment must be made) between whistling and playing the euphonium correctly. Rule #3: When you whistle, try and make a pitched wind: just whistle very softly and pay attention to the position of your tongue and lips as you create the pitches. transfer that to your higher range playing, using your tongue as a "valve" of sorts to control airspeed and pressure. Hope this helps :)

Marching baritone is not mich like this. Tone and quality will almost never be the same. You need to focus on fingerings, articulation, and dynamics.

Interesting; most bassoonists in the situation take up other woodwind instruments, not brass ones (but many years ago, I liked learning cello in my town's music summer school program so much that two years later I did it again on baritone). By this time, marching season will have already begun, but... If you haven't played another brass instrument before, pick up a method book, learn how to buzz your lips through the instrument and then focus on getting a good sound before worrying about anything else (relax, as a previous poster said). Then work your way through. By this point in your musical training, you'll know what sounds musical and what doesn't; and you're a double reed player so you probably have a fair amount of patience. The fat lip is standard the first time you play. Good luck!

A lot of marching bands use euphoniums instead of baritones (but the former are a good deal heavier), so her horn might sound quite a bit like these.

If you plan to pursue performance professionally, don't switch to euph.

A lot of this music was actually written for Trombone quartet. We just played all four parts. What level are you thinking?

+whatsstandard Small live halls in academic environs tend to be voiced for vocals and strings...brass (and most winds, for that matter) suffer mightily because of this...we need a dry space...not the brick incarnation of a gymnasium.
