not possible for Novgorod to die that early, idk how it changes with the new province updates, but currently Novgorod costs 206% to annex, and thats with full claims from the missions, this means Novgorod needs THREE *FULL* wars to full annex, which gives say 2 yrs per war, and 2 * 15 yrs peace, thats roughly 35 years ATLEAST to conquer them, unless Denmark jumps in, but when I play Muscovy I always eat the provinces bordering other nations in the first war, so nobody else can eat them lel

I seems only in my games Denmark and the Livionian Order also seem to invade Novogrod every time. I may be exegerating, but I've had games where novogrod was gone within a year.

even with all three invading they wont die that quick, livonians wont take much land, they can only take neva and that province that land borders them (he cant immediately core anything else, AI tend not to take anything they ant core immediately) and Denmark tends to only take Kola and a few provinces below that, or if possible Neva as well, Denmark has no real desire to take anything in Novgorod other then its an easy target, knowing this we can assume that Livonians and Denmark together only take about 50% warscore, and EVEN adding in Tver also DoW on Novgorod, he also tends to only take 1-2 provinces, which still adds up to about 80% warscore, leaving roughly 130% left for you to deal with only way for them to be gone within a year is if Livonians, Tver, and Denmark dogpile 1 month in and take atleast 40% warscore each, which they couldnt even do since they all occupy land the other needs for higher warscore, therefore not letting them all peace out for 40+% within a year

Алина Старковa (Alina Starkova) 2nd Account when you lose your Providences early on , you just keep losing cuz it the mandate of weakness.

One thing I'd like to see in EU4 is to have dynamic coat of arms (similar to how HOI4 has dynamic flags). For instance, the russian shield has the muscovite coat of arms in the center... but what if you were to form russia as Beloozero? Why not have the russian eagle and the Beloozeroan coat of arms in the center? Nothing major, but would be cool to see. Similarly, if you play the Ottomans and become christian, the islamic moon doesn't make much sense. I realize such a feature could be nightmarish to implement, but hey! It's a pretty nifty idea, right? :)

That's a great idea! I'd also like to see dynamic historical flags such as with Spains Burgundy cross if prerequisites are met and the english-scottish flag then the great Britain english-scottish-irish flag. Small stuff, but really would add to the game. It would make each nation feel like your own and your influence on it would have an impact on the flags evolution.

Nice idea, but the Ottoman flag was made before the moon was associated with Islam. Islam's only real symbol is the colour green and the creative use of Arabic

Agreed, but this is their flagship title followed by CK2 and (now) Stellaris. Vicky falls below HOI in terms of budget & frequency of updates. Which is kind of a shame because Vicky is a pretty damn fun era to play.

It's a politically fraught time to discuss in 2017, though. EU4 can chill under the radar but I honestly think a revived vicky, a game about carving up africa and economically exploiting your colonies as much as you can, would be targeted by certain groups online. It also presents a huge investment for a return that really wouldnt be worth it for the studio. Both of these problems have to do with them being fairly small and vulnerable. Personally, I'd like to see Paradox make some kind of timeless strategy game similar to EU, Vicky, and HoI that perhaps can even transcend all three eras of history and randomly simulate a world and randomly simulate countries, religions, economies, etc. To me, that would be the best Paradox game and I'd easily put 400 hours into it.

You say that, but take a look at colonialism in EUIV. It has a heavy dose of slaves as a commodity and 'let's annihilate the people in loincloths to make this easier'. No one bats an eye at it because it's a video game. A medium of art whose highest form of expression is how realistic you can make an exploding head look. When you think about it these grand strategy games are pretty tame in comparison.

Randomized nations start out with idea groups that reflect their location. It's only "russia" in name. It would have native culture and ideas.

also i doubt that Idea can be used in a custom nation, afaik special Ideas like that are tied to the nation itself, and cannot be used in a custom nation, the old muscovy siberian frontier (shows TI bordering your colonies) wasnt available in a custom nation either

Yea, they need to be protestant to form and late swithc to ortodox. But you know all the most explity sthings require tag and rellgion switching. Like getting -95% regiment cost can only be accomplished if you form Russia as Tengiri Sweden. Sadly due to the national ideas nerf it is a strategy only possible for the next two weeks.

going orthodox as prussia isnt even all that exploity, sure you get the idol with 5% discipline, but you lose other bonuses from the protestant, and reformed faith as well, also you lose out on nice Catholic events

I hope that the AI Russia will use all of those options too, just because in my 300+ hours in the game I've never seen AI Russia colonize much of Siberia (like it did irl).

602 They only really use the one colonist they get from their old NI, so it's really slow and takes till 1700's to actually notice them making advances there, you really have to go through and finish a game to see them do it, which is historical, as Siberian expansion didn't really happen in full till 1600's-1700's Now it's likely going to go by way to quickly and make them to damn op. (Like another nation they recently changed)

That adds up significantly after the first view, not to mention the potential for massive amounts early game gold.

I dont think so, it isnt till like 1600 that western europe has sizeable colonies in north america most of the time. The rate of growth using these frontiers is crazy in comparison to normal colonies.

Paradox, please add an immersion pack for Ottomans, makin janniseries an unique unit instead of an modifier (maybe an estate where you assign provinces to the Devshirme System?). Janniseries can have increased fire damage but can defect as rebels if you don't pay them bonuses or the decedance fires. And give them the ability to force the change of monarchs as they did in history. This kind of system can pottentialy nerf the late game of Ottomans towards 1700's, just as in history.

My prediction is that they'll improve Greece/the southern Balkans and maybe Anatolia in the future. Janissaries need to be a unique unit like Streltsy that deal extra damage but bring a bad modifier to the Ottomans.

They actually nerfed the Russian ideas quite a bit. 0.25 army tradition is a joke; I'd rather stick with Muscovite ideas all the way through.

These area-claiming and siberian frontiers features should be made available in the expansion idea group in a (more balanced) manner.

Please redraw border Starodub-Mazyr , Mazyr was smaler, because in time of Cossacks and his getman Boghdan Khmelnytskiy Starodub was a part of cossack state(and after Boghdan death) And in Chernigov and Starodub must be ruthenian culture (Chernigov duchy it is ruthenian duchy and he may form Ruthenia, not Russia

I hope we'll see more Siberian colonialization though, I rarely see them take over all of it. All of these buffs combined seem seriously overpowered though.

Here's a question... whats the easiest way to mass develop shit tons of provinces? Like if you have over a 1000. Do you just say fuck it... and have some amazing built up areas and just leave everything else in squalid filth or do you click the fuck out of the mouse until your hand falls off.

I don't know him, but I think he's wrong. Catholic and Coptic bonuses can stack, and it doesn't cost much to have most of them active at the same time. But for the Orthodox, you get a huge bonus that costs a lot, and it only lasts 20 years. Seriously, what's the point of having a religion like this ?

20 Years is long time and 10 authority is not much. For Copt You need time to get all those holy sites and catholic is just plain overrated shit. And Orthodox gives huge manpower bonus, which is better then anything any other religion gives, expect American religions, They are the best, If reformed.

This DLC looks litle unhistorical... Paradox how you explain that renaissance has never reached to Moscow? Books from from latin countries was banned, in XV century Moscow still paid tribute to Ords etc.

i love this game but, another DLC ?! man i haven't even bought rights of man yet !

what the F is Muskovy ? i know there was the Grand Duchy of Moscow . "Muscovy" was the Polish name for the biggest contender for the lands of the Rus they pretend on too !

Does "Ruthenia" and "Ukraine" get the same mechanics as "Russia" ??? because they get the Russian Principality, but since they arent of Russian culture they cant form rRussia, but rather Ruthenia or Ukraine :|

Kieven Rus did exist back then, which is basically ye olde Ukraine, in game its just called Ukraine because Kieven Rus may be too confusing with both a Kiev, and a *Rus* -sia in the game

Ukraine would be a wrong name for it and you know it :P Kiev makes sense, Ruthenia is just greek variant of the name Rus' as much as I can recall, so it makes sense. Ukraine, on the other hand, has no place in EU4 timeframe. As for the government form, I don't really know if they should have the same as russian ones, maybe something simillar with different factions in the government screen. You can't have that area without Cossack being an important thing, much more important than they are in Russia. I'll try to make a mod when this gets out, to see how it would work :D

Actually Ruthenians are not the same as Russians, very similar, but Ruthenians are closer to Polish then they are to Russian ... Ukraine is there because its *Kieven Rus* which did exist before, but PDX named Ukraine for simplicty sake because everyone knows that its really just a really old version of ukraine
