Saddly this coalition was less *GRAND* than a bunch of northern europeans without navies.

Hawk basically became Napoleon, but Irish, and as Ireland ruled Britannia, nobody could defeat them.

@@krankarvolund7771 German diplomacy could do it if Napoleon actually integrated his country and Napoleon told his successors to ally with Germany and not to be idiots. Any well-defended form of Germany could defeat the rest of Europe, except Russia, with its diplomacy turning hostile. Fortunately for Britain, Germany got terrible leadership that did not integrate France, even in WW2, where the situation basically handed them the strategy guide for victory already.

Dai Viet is a very unique nation as one of the big 3(4?) of Indochina. Definitely worth playing

Dai Vet would be cool but A-Z is already going to be so long. Honestly, my vote is play Dai Vet because I love watching you play but it's also understandable if you didn't play them because of how much work goes into your videos.

If you eventually play Dai Viet, I have two suggestion : Defeat Ming in a defensive war ( something the Vietnamese are great at ) or form the US and then declare a war at them and won because you know, the Vietnam war

Dhundar can be rewritten as hundrad... a "rad" 100. Control 100 provinces by any means necessary. In order to truly be rad, be generous with your money... no shame in getting a bankruptcy.

You should do more pirate stuff! Even though your start was slow and painful (but as you already know, we love it when you say "pain"!), at the end, when you beat up the navies of all the coalitions against you, it was satisfying hearing the sheer enjoyment in your voice! :)

Oh boy this episode was absolutely satisfying to watch, kinda makes realise how Britain was able to resist Herr Schmitler back in the day

This game has been out for almost 10 years and if one thing has remained the same: the AI absolutely refuses to invade Britain.

Wait, you have 1500 hours in cities skylines? Damn, I might actually get into it if you made a good introduction/tutorial or whatever on it.

Idea for Flanders I call them discount achievements: Who's the speedbump now?: as Flanders own all of modern day Belgium and have a core on Berlin and Vienna you are not allowed to form the Netherlands Frieten met mayonaise: as Flanders own a core on Paris and have a colony in the US aria

Eyyy!! I also went Pirate in my current Desmond game. I'm trying a "self-made" achievement, to own all the main locations from the first Assassin's Creed games. Excited to see you play them

That was hilarious. It was the good balance between serious and silly. I loved it !

Bunch of little ways to get a faster start as pirate Desmond (I play this exact start a lot actually): Sell your transports to Portugal, Brittany, France or Castile, aiming to get 20 or 30 ducats total. Take the diet, hoping for burghers asking for base production in Cork. Encourage development, put 1 mil and 2 production in Cork, and then activate the nobility monopoly on smelting (usually gets you like 50 ducats). Dev once more in cork, that should put you at 10 total dev and your force limit will tick up. The monopoly is pretty great because you get to have regular production again before it would normally expire, as soon as going pirate eliminates your burgher estate. Merc up with free company instead of training regiments, mainly because they're more efficient in terms of time. That should be the only time you get troops until you have to fight Munster, which you hold off on doing for as long as possible. The rest of your training capacity should go into light ships immediately, with private trade fleets enabled. Rival and fight Ormond first with a humiliation war, they frequently have no ally by Dec 11. Gives you something to do while waiting for spy network, and show strength now gets your age objective done. You also don't want to use your navy yet as you're waiting for one or two ships to get a slight edge on naval superiority, and it's also very easy to run out of sailors when going for black flag as an Irish OPM. After that war, fight a pair of minors where one has coast and the other is landlocked, ideally rivaling both. Humiliate out the landlocked minor and try to steal as many ships as you can from the coastal one before taking their province. Usually this is Connacht or Thomond plus Offaly or Kildare. If you get lucky, you should have enough light ships by this point to handle naval engagements against two coastal minors at once. State up, reduce autonomy and give out all your remaining possible monopolies before hoisting. Also force draft a heavy. After this and your first raids you should be able to afford a castle in Ulster, as well as maybe even a market in Cork. Second set of raids should easily get your center of trade to level 2. You should aim to hoist within the first 10 years. Usually with this method I can avoid taking even a single loan before fighting England on English soil (not necessary for Pale even when they don't get Meath'd by France). This is important because inflation can be a real killer while the raw loan amounts are so low, and between coring and stabbing up you're going to be too starved on admin to reduce inflation. You'll also not be able to refresh burgher loans to pay off your high inflation bank loans later. I see you getting over 7% inflation here before you hoist. Ship tradepower doctrine is better than capture chance, as it does improve privateering and in this campaign you'll frequently be stealing way more ships than you need. You could easily make pirates the top share in Bordeaux and even English Channel pretty early this way. Speaking of, never build galleys as a pirate. Fight heavies with heavies and everything else with massive light ship swarms. Galleys aren't *that* much better than lights in combat outside inland seas and you want to devote as much of your naval force limit as you can to privateering capacity. As for your own ally, it's actually pretty easy to ally Castile as Desmond. I usually go for them and only them until I'm ready to have no allies at all. Discourages England from deccing on you, and can also help you against France as soon as you're ready to push into Scotland (assuming they're still guaranteeing or are allied to Scotland). I never bother to try to ally an Irish OPM as it's not needed and usually produces a truce that will end up making me wait. I wouldn't ally France because it prevents you from raiding their coasts, and Castile is just outside your early raiding range anyway. France is arguably more useful against England than Castile, but not by enough to be worth those sweet raids, and when playing pirate there's not much of a rush to aggressively push into England in the beginning anyway, as you can just raid them. Speaking of pushing into England though, usually as an Irish minor you can find an opportunity to be a mil tech ahead of them, and use this in conjunction with an Ulster fort and well time strait blocking to utterly drain them in defense before cleaning them up. The longer you wait, the harder England gets, and you should really aim to win against them by 1470. Generally bucs should be in power at all times at least until you get additional sources of republican tradition.

In my opinion , that was one of the most interesting A-Z episodes so far! The 6 coalitions at the end and managing to peace them all out was something I had never thought could even happen.

Dai Viet is one of my favorite nations to play, I'd love to see that video.

Some of the most fun I’ve had with EU4 was playing Desmond with just the 3X mod, escaping to the new world and making mega Canada.

I have never watched a Dai Viet gameplay video, so I would enjoy seeing one from you :)

I have been playing as Dai Viet forever and honestly I think they are way easier than people make them out to be, in a way that's still challenging enough to be very rewarding. But you'd have to know how to set them up. Here's my tried and true method for winning as Dai Viet: 1. Destroy the fort in Thanh Hoa and mothball the capital fort, your navy and army to save your ducats. This will free up enough income to get both an admin advisor AND a military advisor. Take them both. The admin advisor will help you get the first idea set ASAP before your first war with Ayutthaya, and also to stab up to +1 as soon as possible, because this is required to trigger an event that will make your regent your queen (don't let your heir become king because his stats are so horrible he might trigger a disaster when age of exploration ends). The military advisor will be crucial for getting ahead of Ayutthaya in military tech. In all my games as Dai Viet I've always found it best to strike right after I have gotten mil tech 6, and after only one war Ayutthaya will pretty much become a non-threat for the rest of the game, provided you get Lan Xang or Khmer as an ally. 2. You will need 50% crown land AND also high enough nobility loyalty to revoke the Control of the Military privilege for the mission that will prevent Dai Viet's unique disaster. You should try to have at least 50+ loyalty equilibrium for the first 2 estates, and ideally 70+ loyalty for nobility to revoke Control of the Military. I recommend giving out Clerical Ministers (extra Harmony increase), Monopoly on Incense, Tropical City Planning, Supremacy over the Crown (of course), AND at least one nobility monopoly such as Monopoly on Mining and Smelting. You COULD also give out the +1 admin privilege. In my experience it wasn't that hard to get up to 50% crown land even if you lose 10% at the start. 3. Ally Muang Phuan immediately after rivaling Ayutthaya so they won't ally them as well. Also try to ally with either Lan Xang or Khmer, whichever of the two hasn't rivaled you (Lan Xang is the better ally by far plus they unlikely to rival you at the start compared to Khmer. This guide will assume you have an alliance with Lan Xang). Have a diplomat curry favor with Lan Xang at all time to get their trust up. 4. When the event to convert to Confucianism comes up, accept it. From patch 1.33 Confucian countries now have -0.5 corruption per year at 100 harmony. This basically means that you can now debase your currency just like Muslim countries, and if you time it right the impact this will have on your mana pool will be close to nil. Plus you get access to a bunch of monuments. This is why I always recommend going Confucian as Dai Viet. Mahayana is really only worth it for the achievement, which is a very easy and kind of boring achievement. 5. Start fabricating claim on Champa as they have an invaluable fort in Vijaya that will protect your defenseless south. Use hostile trading merchant mode to make it quicker, but since at the start of the game you WILL immediately get a stab hit event, I recommend waiting a few months until you have enough admin to stab up to +1 since you'll need it for the aforementioned event to fire. In the mean time you can use this moment to get all three possible claims on Champa. Don't wait too long though. Ayutthaya might ally them. 6. After the war is done (hope you blockaded and used your 1 siege pip general to make the siege easy), unstate Champa to save on coring cost. Demand the 3 provinces you have the claims for, then humiliate them for the age objective (I personally like to get claim bordering claim as soon as possible) and also money. You should then try to get Rhade for the Nobility monopoly, since with that privilege you might be able to revoke Control of Military right before your first war with Ayutthaya. Also, start fabricating claims on Khmer. 7. After getting mil tech 4, declare war on Khmer. If possible, rush into Battambang to deny Lan Xang that province. You want to own it to deny Ayutthaya any inroad into Khmer (hope Lan Xang has high enough trust with you that they won't rival you after taking that province). Khmer might ally Pegu or Lan Na though, so you might want to ally Ava first to manage them, as sieging Pegu down might deplete your manpower too much before your war with Ayutthaya. In any event, you should get all of the state of Cambodia (Battambang, Pursat, Oudong, Kampot) plus any province you need to get a land connection. Then build a fort in Oudong. This will be necessary in the upcoming war. 8. Wait. While you wait, improve relation with Bengal in hope for an alliance or at the very least try to prevent them from rivaling you in the future (they will be very useful in your future war with Ming as every other country you could ally aside from Ava will be Ming tributaries). You could also try allying Malacca. Also try to vassalize Muang Phuan to complete one of the missions. Speaking in terms of tech, after getting admin tech 4 you could put your national focus on military to get the first two quantity ideas + mil tech 6 before Ayutthaya. Around this time you'll be able to get claim bordering claim as well. Which will be very useful since you'll be out for BLOOD (Take everything you can. Don't worry about AE). Hope you have enough nobility loyalty to revoke the Control of the Military privilege though since you'll need them generals. That's all you need to know to get started playing as this country. Have fun.

Some advanced tips: 1. There's a monument in Khmer that provides tech cost reduction. You could try preventing Ayutthaya or Lan Xang from taking that province in a war (if they're small enough you could guarantee them until you can break the alliance with Lan Xang), and then threaten war to get it "peacefully". To pull this off you will need to AVOID TAKING PHNOM PENH, as sometimes Khmer will move their capital into the province with the monument. 2. There's a gold mine right in your backyard owned by Sambas that's almost trivially easy to take. You will need to use the claim bordering claim ability to fabricate on them. Take it if you're feeling strapped for cash. They'll have naval superiority but you'll have ground superiority and can land on the uncolonized jungle right next to them. 3. Sometimes, Ayutthaya might be able to rack up enough war exhaustion with Lan Xang to white peace them. Do not panic. This is actually a good thing because if you play your cards right you'll be able to pull what I call a 1000 IQ Pro Gamer Move. For this you'll need to ensure that there's only you, Ayutthaya and your vassal Muang Phuan in the war (peace out all of Ayutthaya allies), and that you're the ONLY one that Lan Xang has given military access to. Wait at the south end of your country to bait Ayutthaya into sieging down Muang Phuan. Ensure that you have a free diplomat, then give chase and catch them while they're sieging Muang Phuan, then during the battle, cancel military access with Lan Xang. They'll now be trapped inside your two forts for you to play with. 4. If you're going to take the Mandate of Heaven, ensure that you have enough War Score to take Beijing in the war, or at least a border with Shun. This is so that after Shun forms, you can immediately declare Unify China on them. Waiting too long will let them ally Korea, and they will have ample opportunities to gobble up all the smaller Mingsplosion minors before you have a chance to do so. Trust me. You don't want that to happen. 5. The mission "Defy Ming" can be used to vassalize Yue, which is very handy for those who don't want to have to fight both Yue and Wu in their war to Unify China against Ming. Simply wait until Yue is released, vassalize Yue with the mission, then break vassal when the truce is up.

When that war with Mide and Leinster, what could be done is: Spy on Mide, claim their province, in same time, RENT for free your troops to them, help take out Leinster, and in that can, after they won, declare on them. Also, I think there is some EU4 achivment for doing something like that. Love the series as always!

You should play Dai Viet, it's a really unique area. I would also add all "group" ideas that are named after one country, even if multiple of that group exist in 1444. The one it's named after is the real one, the others are pretenders who should be skipped.

In regards to the Dai Viet conundrum, I think you should follow the list you've been following, and just collect problematic nations as you go along and put them at the end as bonus nations.

You may have missed the war against the world, but the world didn't miss the war against you

This was a real fun campaign!

Ireland isn't on the map as for 1444, so basicly that won't happen. If we would go by such rules, we'd need to go back to also do campaigns for other formables with unique ideas.

As you said, you're playing with unique national ideas at the start date, so you should play Dai Viet. Even though it's listed in a group, the others are releasable and not available for selection at the start date.

Dhundhar is the country that historically formed Rajputana. So that would be a good challenge, then after that: For a shorter challenge: Conquer all provinces that forming Rajputana gives you claims on For a longer challenge: Get the "Mewar never changes" achievement as Rajputana (you need to finish Mewar's mission tree for that one, and Rajputana has Mewar's mission tree)

It will be interesting to see how different you can make all of those Irish minors, since they all have unique national ideas.

I think it may be best to just leave Dai Viet and then do a nations you missed, and do a few interesting nations that don't quite have unique national ideas per the list and/or a few of the ones that get drastically revamped after the upcoming update (i.e., revisiting Denmark) and/or releasable ones.
