didn't get this part- sort -t "," -nrk 4 -- in this you have used k as field and in this cut -d "," -f4 - f as a field--- can you explain this lit bit more. I am not a Unix person so this might be the reason I didn't get that.

-t is used to tell that what is field separator, in this file we have used comma as separator between fields so we have used comma (","). hope this helps

how to see log files for specific date of 25th only but you are not getting the timestamp? Can someone pls help me with the answer

Ideally the logs should be given with timestamp if it's writing in the same log file . In real world scenario, log files name itself are created with date and time stamp so that we can check the transaction of the past. Probably you can clarify what's the purpose of log file if this can serve the purpose of basic requirement. Anyways you can always check the latest 10 lines from log using $ tail - 10 filename

In real time , Informatica extract is defined to locate the file to fetch from remote server such as ftp server which the source files are delivered on predetermined time everyday/ weekly as per requirement and when informatica jobs runs as per scheduled time, it picks up that file and process. Informatica job can have multiple files picked up from same Linux directory if there are multiple sources defined in informatica transformation. Hope this clarifies your question. Can just watch some of my video that covering extraction from file based source to get and idea how do we define the source qualifier to pick the file from source location

Yes - you can download ubuntu with oracle vm virtual box . that's free . even there are some online editor you can use but they are limited with some commands only

I have explained the reason in the initial of this video- since ETL essentially designed to extract the data from multiple types sources like databases, files based systems etc...so while you verify the source /target when file is used , you would need some scripting language to figure out row count, duplicates etc..hence either you use Linux or python pandas etc.. however most of the developers use Linux as scripting and also as a server hence its must have skill if you really want to be best at your job. Hope this clarifies your question
