    Oh my goodness, I thought I knew music but you have schooled me. I had no clue that during that time when Miles Davis, Wes Montegomery, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock and many more was bringing the vibe here in the states, I did not know that Ethiopia was sending that sultry jazz vibe as well. I am so grateful for this knowledge and have now began delving into this era in the one and only Ethiopia. Much appreciated!!

    As a East African, I am glad many people are experiencing African tunes and sounds. Africa has many generes of music and some sounds you may recognize as there are western artists who added western components and harmonics to the original roots. I urge everyone to go on a music tour of all 54 African countires and to start all the way back and work your way down to todays date. You will hear sounds from various regions from instruments you never knew existed. Welcome to the beautiful world of music & Enjoy my friends! P.S. Do this to every single country on this planet, your soul will thank you.

  • @carrington2949

    @carrington2949

    5 ай бұрын

    @Maymaymaok No it did not. It came from American blacks. Jazz is considered the only true American art form. The jazz you hear in Africa is also due to travel and influence of African American pre and post World War. We also invented rock n roll. Country music is a descendent of blues music also started by American blacks. Jazz does have other influences with bass from our African ancestors and even classical music from Europe. However it is a unique American art form created by African Americans, We are descended from Africa but we have formed our own culture and arts. It does not take away from African’s contributions to music and the arts. However you only get various art forms when one group invents it from their own particular experiences and exposure to the world. That is very different for an African American vs an African.

    WOW..🧐Most incredible this music from Ethiopia 😮This puts new pieces to the puzzle-seen here with "Chifara? The 60's & NYC" Wow.. never knew. TY for ths! Here, is new meaning. Some may know- if not for Castro_Cuba there would be no Jazz or Latin music AKA The Salsa from Puerto Rico of where im from. Some might know that the whole Continent of Africa was once called Ethiopia-The "Cradle and Birth place of all civilization-->(Humankind) But here we see it (Music) is also the place where all music has gotten its origin from.. Interesting for sure.. 😉Peace Blessings ASHE

    Nalbandian played a big role in the 1950s but the melodies are ancient. How many of you know Ethiopia had written music long before a lot of Europe. The father of Ethiopian melodies , Mezmure Dawit from the Orthodox church has had written music for 1000s of years. Facts!

    Let’s put it this way, if my home was burning to the ground & as a result I only had the opportunity to ‘rescue’ a certain amount of my lp’s/cds & cassettes as human possible, the very first section of my room I would bolt over to is where I keep all of my hardcore/d-beat/crust/punk release’s. Those hands down, being my most favourite genre(s) of music to indulge in. In addition to hopefully being able to scoop up as many of my *J. Hendrix & Redbone* (and no not ‘leon’ either) in the process as well, of course. ☺️ That said, I always feel so very blessed to stumble across music like this, as well. All so new, refreshing & very uplifting. So to the uploader who posted this, much love & respect. Cheers!!! ✌🏻
