Dangote Cement is the largest cement plant in Ethiopia. We Ethiopians are so happy that our brother from Nigeria invested & created jobs to Ethiopians. We have to collaborate in all sectors.Imagine Nigeria & Ethiopia with a total population of more than 320 million work together to strengthen their military power, they could contribute a lot in keeping peace in Africa & no need of western military involvement as peace keeper in Africa.

Exactly! I don't understand these short sighted Nigerians that don't understand the bigger picture. We are all Africans, I rather them own it than the west that have no emotional connection to the average Nigerian. Z best decision ever for the national career involving Ethiopian, since they are the best in managing it with class.Aireline business isnt a joke, even many who are in operation are struggling to servive. Who thought about converting passanger aircrafts to cargo as Covid hits but only ET, it make Ethiopian among very few airelines in z world to stay on running with profit in those hard times and plus it provided its excellence to the whole Africa, Americas and europe. So, letting Ehiopian hold major share makes them work hard to make Nigerian flag career a success.

And I know it would be a massive win for the Ethiopians too. They also have a well run pilot training program which would be good for Nigerians who might be qualified to train there through some kind of quota system through the partnership agreement. And have you seen how many Sistah’s are employed as pilots by Ethiopian Airlines? Ethiopia has proved it can run a successfully run an airline. Together, they will provide Nigerian citizens a world class service which is positive for customers. Nigeria as a country is blessed with oil. Their AIM should be to build their own refinery and ensure their money does not leave their country via shell and other oil giants. Prosperity for Nigerians is in their hand. Why can't Nigeria be like the Arab nations????? it has just as much oil as them but its citizens are not benefiting from it. That needs to change. Sistah Adeola I thank you for all your very insightful, informative, interesting helpful information. It helps to wake us up to what our beautiful continent is about and more.. I have learned so much. Thank you again. We on the Alkebulan continent need to revert to calling our continent by one of it's correct names. Africa is a false forced name. Our continent came to be known by it through volonisation. It is a blighted name with a sad destructive associated with a sad destructive period of time. The name should be changed to lift the blight and help generations to aspire to making it great again. It will be one of the most important action in our history. We can then consider building a united continent. Not all of Alkebulan were affected by enslavement colonisation or apathied of our people. We need a lot of healing and understanding of the full extent of the mess all these imposed savagery that was visited upon us. We all need to understand all the possibilities for our continent with the start of all governments, leaders and the people approving such a fundamental change. We need to free our continent from this blight then we can work towards development on a holistic scale including dealing with the psychological impact of the above mentioned autrocites the need for unifying all that we have left and build a tremendously strong continent over time. Ethiopian Airline gives us hope that we can have a carrier which will on day enable us to fly from any country in Alkebulan and beyond and not have to leave the continent to fly to another country in Alkebulan. Well don't to Ethiopia. We praise you and wish you every success. We have much work to do to heal our psychologically depraved colonised enslaved, apathied dependent minds. It's Time to Wake Up and provide real possibilities for our future generations. I love being one of the original people. The first on this earth, the chosen ones despite our suffering we will rise. Leaders must know they have to go unless they are there selflessly for the people and in the interest of our continent. All leaders need to work together to develop our continent to enrich all not just the few. Sada

This is actually not how things should be done. In the tech and automotive industry, what startups do, to level up to the bigger boys, is HIRING THEIR TOP/EXECUTIVE STAFF. It happens all over the world. Nigeria could have hired like 20 - 30 top executives from the top airlines and combine their knowledge gained from their experience to form a successful business. Asides that, There's systematic tutoring. They could have paid Ethiopian airlines to train our staff properly before launching the airline. Either way,the maximum shares that should have been sold to foreigners should have been about 35-45%. That way they our govt will own the airline and the Ethiopian airlines will be the ones managing it. They will make profit, we will make profit and still keep some dignity.

The only issue in this partnership is govt not owning anything in Nig Air. Subsequently, the entity could be challenged or frustrated out of the deal to sell out it shares and become solely Nigeria which in the long run a recipe for collapse. My first hand experience as a former Virgin Nigeria where Richard Branson was frustrated out of the deal got Jimoh Ibrahim to buy major shares changing to Air Nigeria happened due to gov't not owning a stake in the establishment. Where is Air Nigeria today(dead). I wish you luck Ethiopia Airline.

I will be interested to know how much stake President Buhari has in the new national airline (directly or indirectly). As for partnership with Africa's best airline -Ethiopian Airline- this is an excellent choice and I have no doubt that the well seasoned expertise and efficiency of Ethiopian airline will help our new national airline start and grow. Nigeria has the largest air passenger numbers in Africa. Its hightime the government generate some revenue from air travel of Nigerians. Well done Madam Adeola for doing well in journalism and entertainment. God bless you and family.

Let us not be too sentimental about this partnership it is a very laudable move you don't expect someone with no technical- know-how to be in charge of running an airline , and besides there will job creations for Nigerians as well tax remittance in to national pulse. Hence it is highly commendable

This is good news for once. We have lost any credibility in managing anything even our universities and NNPC. Ethiopian is one of the global leaders in aviation and we should be humbled rather than ask why can’t we do it. They should even take over NNPC and our power sector. What is it to us if these institutions and companies are not working?

  • @chrisfelix9065

See when you do not have greed issues (corruption) and you have less of things to manage and you are not constantly distracted by a single resource generating an enormous revenue that surpasses others(oil). You will be able to manage an airline fleet properly (Ethiopia). Privatisations and shares with other countries/private companies will cause things to get managed properly and it's a step in the right direction for Nigeria in my own opinion. Something the PDP is aware of for 16years of rule but failed to do and Buhari has done even for oil in Nigeria. For example private companies are in charge of Russia and even Saudi oil and not the government. I am not saying the Nigerian Government is holy, but painting them black on a matter like this means you would likely perform worse than they if you become the president. The primary problem with Nigerian government is curruption, steps like this makes embezzlement a lot more difficult and makes it easy to track money. The problem with majority of Nigerians is lack of education and how they are always happy to label Nigeria with everything bad as a result of lack of education.

Your concerns is a very stupid one with due respect. Nigerian governments are very stupid to give Ethiopia anything more then 30% in an airline for Africa’s dominant economy with more traveler than many African countries combined. If we give any developed white nation such a deal they will jump on it and grab it with both lines. Our leaders should be lined up and shot with the decisions they make at times. They just want to give Nigerians a an airline without having anything to do with it. There must be a clause for Nigeria to buy out Ethiopia air’s share someday. Why can’t Nigerian billionaires even invest in it? Afraid of their government or the citizens? If I am an Ethiopian government official I am dancing and smiling to the bank. We can cancel this airline as soon as the next government comes into power. This is the deal if the century for Ethiopia, see if any white country gave them a similar deal in any industry. If I am a Nigerian business man I will consider assassinating the president and it’s entire government to get this deal. In fact I might consider renting a spiritualist to bring Al Capone from the dead so he can kill turn all with style while I smile to the bank. Sometimes I think Northern Nigerians in power have their mothers damaging their brains at birth once they knew this one will become a leader. How did we end is with these useless peoples ruling us from amongst dozens of millions of intelligent northern Nigerians? They always give us their worse to rule us. The Igbo or Yoruba business men can do a better job than Ethiopia with incentives. What a steal for Ethiopia! I envy them!
