InfiniBand is the king of AI networking today. Ethernet is making a big leap to take some of that market share but it’s not going to dethrone the incumbent any time soon. For on premises if HPE + Dell are the biggest force to determine the medium if they have support from both NVDIA AND Broadcom they will offer solution from both, So mixed kind of solution : Standard Networking for LAN , WAN, DATA, INFINIBAND for MEM-GPU - GPU- MEM If cost is somewhere customer be looking, these vendor's only will give 400*2 Gig ports for networking Cloudvendor's are another big player's since they mostly have ethernet , it will be intresting to look to what they opt. My bet is its on NVDIA how bad they can push to hold the status of 1 trillion dollar company pushing Infinibands to mass market's.... We have seen HPE and Dell already trying to opt in under the market created hype
Microsoft has doubled down on their infiniband deployment in Azure with their HPC clusters for AI workloads.
