Moving my mom upstairs to to bathroom upstairs once a day is 150$ eth. Ridiculous yes it is! So many erc 20 tokens sitting in limbo because moving fees are ridiculous. Every upgrade is supposed to fix it and still nada.

Note on Arbitrum the fees are still in the 10 cent range because they have a minimum gas fee on the network of 0.1 gwei. They are reducing that to 0.01 gwei on March 19th, so another ~10x reduction in fees then. They are also reducing the "surplus fee per compressed byte" from 32 gwei to 0, but I have no idea what that means :)

Am I the only one that still seeing gas fees over $100?

Yes BASE is already super super cheap. love it. Only problem is that not much on its blockchain if you want to buy Crypto on base, but sending, yep its dope super cheap.

Apps paying for gas. Isn’t that similar to what ICP does? Developers pay for the transaction fees.

Don't stress will never happen, and if it does, those "apps" wont be around long.

With the Dencun low layer 2 fees ,isn't this going to make the ETH staking rewards (APY) less?

I mean, most of the time is not about to save a couple of cents, but also the security. What do you think about Base vs ARB as L2? I have used ARB a lot the last couple of months but this Base sounds interesting

Good Lord, how many more patches and upgrades does Eth need to function efficiently? How many outages? When the Ethgate documentary is released on Netflix the SEC will be forced to reassess whether Eth is a security.

That's the billion dollar question. The layer 2s are not too bad with the fees until eth gets involved. Too nan ERC tokens... dreading the sell off gas fees.

Needs to be enough reward for the stakers running the network. Cheaper L1 Ethereum fees, means stakers get less payout, which means they will be less incentivized to run the network honestly and stably.

Between copying pasting contract addresses bouncing between coinmarketcap and the others, then seeing $130 gas fees when you have 100 bucks or so in something. It’s ridiculous

Why is it that we have to wait every three years after the previous crypto bullrun for crypto to do anything. And herer we are 14 years later and crypto still barely has a use case and has anyone tried using a cold storage wallet pure garbage crypto is to much of a pain in the ass for any normy to try to use it therefore this will always be the best that crypto can do

ICP reverse gas fees will be copied by many chains. Web 2 users will not adopt web 3 if these ridiculous gas fees persist for longer.

Base is an L2-Scaling solution built on Optimism. They haven't launched their own token yet. However, they have stocks; if that's your thing.

A developer has to accept all of these different narratives about lower cost because the root cause of the problem is the fees on ETH are too high. There are other L1 with lower cost to build on but PB will never say it.

Layer 2s have never had a fee problem. I don't care if I pay $ 0.0005 instead of 0.01 . All this is going to do is make DDOS attacks easier to do.

Precisely why I’ll be sticking with Solana. This upgrade hardly changes anything, won’t be using ETH anytime soon.

your using examples mostly from the early end of your 2 year timetable, which is acting rather in bad faith. There's only been one brief outage in the past year. If they become more and more infrequent over time, its a good blockchain.@@JeffWantsMoreMC

@@9durrell9 ETH had 3 major network incidents since inception. DDOS, fork, and 2020 bull run over-demand. None of those are technically outages either, just slow service. Solana has more full multi-hour outages than that in one single year...

The only upgrade ETH needs is going from PoS to PoW xD

Bridging and swaping between chains is not user-friendly; I hate using Eth. Even though I still own Eth, after experiencing the Solana ecosystem, I never want to go back.

People truly don’t know how to bridge there eth 😂 the fees are amazing I’m using eth and paying 0.008 cents per transaction now if your not bridging it of course the fees will be high!

lol, based on the graphic you showed, it’s the same price as solana. And no where near as fast. Plus it’s clunky. Why would you have to use a patch (layer2) to make etherium run some what efficiently? Why make a simple transaction more complicated? The reason it’s cheap now is because nobody wants to transact on ethereum because it’s a ripoff. The eth upgrade is a flop. It didn’t even move the needle on price. Fact is eth is a dinosaur compared to other layer 1’s. Eth has first mover advantage. And the only people holding eth are the ones that got it under a grand. It’s a trash token. Dencun is putting lipstick on a pig.

Mostly hype. Origin ETH to L2, fee will base on mkt condition, could be few dollars to upper double digits, then you will be able to take advantage of cheap fee after the bridge. Let not forget whenever you need to convert back to origin ETH again, there is another humongous fee.
