Personal pet peeves: whoever wrote this comic book has no clue about Isom's character. If he has chosen a farm life, probably to get away from some traumatic event that happened in the city (who knows when and where, since it's all earlier than 2 weeks ago, somewhere), then they would know that punching bags would be a waste of time and energy 😂😂😂 seriously, a ghayest thing to do on a farm - ask anyone - as there are godzillion productive ways to "exercise" and heal all day, every day: ploughing, planting, cutting grass, chopping woods, carrying heavy buckets of water or corn to feed all the animals, clean after them!!! I hesitate to go on a vaccation, or leave my animals just for a day, unless I can leave all those chores to somebody else to do. Is this the reason why he didn't want to look for Jasmine? No partner, neighbor, best friend to jump in and help around while he's away? Did he let his cattle and chickens starve to death? Whoever wrote this, obv has never spent a single day on a farm in their spoilt, lazy, entitled city life. Dialogues From EVS' review, seems like every line is spoken by the same boring ⏹️ person. No humor, no soul, no fun, just boredom, go there, do this or that, preach, inducing emotions: flatline, anger, fear. I've read IKEA instruction page with more love for a piece of furniture. Next, artwork... Buildings, repetitive blank/dark windows, plain empty ambients look just lazy and boring. I know they are tidious PITA for an artist to draw, but everything you put out in this world should be a ticket to history books, not a garbage patch in the middle of the ocean. Warehouse with nothing inside - how come you're rich, and have nothing inside? Have you ever seen Indiana Jones, X Files, X-Men, Spiderman, Ironman, just a hint to give you an idea WHAT to store inside a warehouse? Should WE fill in the gaps of your page? 😂😂😂 Is it a JJ Abrams' Mystery box? And finally: How can anyone sleep with their shoes on? 🤮 ... On a light note: So far *Alphacore comic book looks the best (*not to be confused with Alphacore by NASA, Alphacore microelectronics, Alphacore health, Alphacore insulation or Alphacore military, etc.)

I wonder why Isom even has a costume. He doesn't want to be a hero again. And he already blew his secret identity to the weirdly powerful pimp And how embarrasing is that your nemesis is a pimp that has a nightclub? That's like having Spiderman having Hammerhead or Tombstone for a nemesis. Dude is an absolute bottom tier villain.

53:00 The thing with 3D assets is that a lot of people don't know how to use them properly. Often times it is just an asset bash that does not even fit to the style of the comic. An example of good 3d background usage are some animes and mangas, like Jujutsu Kaisen or AOT. The textures look "painted" and they added plenty of 2d details on top to combine it even further. The 3d models in ISOM almost look like placeholders, with no color, details or sense of perspective.

If you are a big time YT creator and you spend your life complaining about things, TV shows, Marvel/DC, Star Wars, comics, WHATEVER...you're (probably) not a good creator of art. Or like, remember those books people used to get for their kid - a sort of lame, washed out and badly drawn comic book where the kids head would be pasted onto some super hero - it has that kind of aesthetic about it. That aside...the title ISOM is enough to put me off, seeing the cover would only make me double down - no wonder you wanted a grand to review this.

As I learned about and saw for myself what was in the book all I could think was "embarrassing." This is simply really embarrassing fan fiction. It's like what an 11 year old thinks is supposed to be in a comic book but they have yet to understand the concept of storytelling. The only way this book is passable is if it's advertised as a first draft. And how much is it? $35?

I got Isom 1&2, I remember reading the first one and also thinking it lacked a story and any character development. It took me awhile to read the 2nd one (honestly just got it because E did the cover), and felt it was more of the same with more action. I got Alphacore because Chuck wrote it, but that comic was almost as bad as Isom 1 (the art is better). The Rippaverse is a mess, heres a prime example, Ingrid (from Alphacore) is seen flying on the cover and in Isom 1. In Alphacore 1, she specifically states she can't fly...WTF? That is just one example of NOT holding to Canon. I dont agree with everything EVS stated in his review of ISOM 1, but the bulk of it was on the money. Im done with Rippaverse, 3 strikes and you're out.

I think I can tell you why ISOM is so awkwardly positioned on the cover. The "artist" didn't want ISOM's body to intersect the other characters, so he leaned him forward until we could see everybody with minimal intersecting characters. It's a weird hang-up that amateur artists have. They're worried about conjestion, so they try to keep everything as visible as possible.

So, what you're saying is that if I, who can't draw a lick, wanted to do a comic all I would have to do is use all these 3d assets and it would be OK? Because Isom seems to be 75% 3d assets and the people that did it were supposedly pros. One other question. You went through this whole book. What powers do any of them possess? Everyone in the book just beats people up. The scene with his niece has no power to, no one cares about that little girl. Instead of her and Jasmine, have her BE Jasmine. She's the one the club MerQ guy took then Avery would be invested in getting her back. Have a flashback of him being reluctant because the last time he had a run in with the massive dude that kicks his butt in Isom #1 beating the absolute snot out of Isom. Then show Avery in gym visualizing how to beat him and learning from his mistakes.

You can go into any random comic book store, and the art in almost every book is better than the art in Isom to say nothing of the story

@@Armin1983 I have the first two issues of Isom all you have to do is compare those to the other books that are currently out in fiscal stores. Isom is a terrible book and even worse by comparison to what professionals are producing Eric to put it plain and simply has no idea what he’s doing

They could, but in this case they were basically traced on. A bit more leniency would be given if the 3d assets were originally made but a lot of these were stuff that was being sold online

Super mediocre. The story is better written because Dixon knows his trade. But it's still based on July's vision. And it shows.

Sadly not. July seems very serious in what he is doing, at least he makes the impresison. But he seems to be virtually immune to critique and from what I saw from a few videos from him it seems that he can react quite angry very quickly. I think he probably has not many people who dare to correct him. If I am correct then this is a very potent but poor mixture for good story telling, especially when you are a beginner.

He is seemingly genuine in his efforts, unfortunately he doesn’t have any talent, which includes an eye for what is right and wrong both in comic books and in real life, very poor grammar as well, he mumbles a lot when he talks, so between the mumbling and the ignorant sentence structure he can be difficult to listen to, I don’t think he is evil just not good

Sad honestly. I know a guy that has been writing a story for like 3+ years. He never even made a page yet he just buckled down and wrote this lengthy story, Hasn't done any crowdfunding and only a couple people know about it, and he's ecstatic about his project. He had a weird fever dream and hardly ever shut up about it since. The attitude that Rippa has towards this is really giving off some strong grifter vibes. Not helped by the fact that he's burning all his bridges and has gotten very close to causing CG to implode entirely with different factions splitting off. He has really let me down.

Kinda funny you say you recommended Gabe to Eric and then you spent the next hour ripping his work apart. Eric doesn't seem to have done any editing on this once he got the work back, though. He has to have noticed that Avery has no testicles @1:06:00 right? Is he canonically female? Or did Eric just not care?
