Thank you I watched the whole thing. If the goal is pure water, why don't they use strong acid cation softener (HCL) and strong base softener (NaOH)? Which would give purer water than the sodium chloride salt regenerated cation.

In the boiler blowdown calculation (slide 48), is the 100 the TDS concentration of the BFW?

If a boiler has been off line for a year and open to the element. What do I have too due to address the rusted surfaces? Is there chemical pre-trement before I am able to get the unit back on line (after checking all safety controls first)

Water boilers at 100C when at atmospheric pressure, in a Deaerator the pressure is higher than atmospheric (5-10 psi (35-68 kpa) and so this prevents the water from boiling at 100C, because as you increase pressure you also increase the boiler point of water.

De-aerator is under pressure. Hence boiling point of water is higher than 100c.
