With how much sugar she puts in her recipes I would suggest maybe a whole shelf filled with big bags of sugar (joke)

Also for measuring spoons I suggest buying ones with the measurement indented in and not just painted on incase if it wears off

Ya! My set of measuring cups' mark faded away completely and I couldn't tell the apart...had to measure with water and write with a “permanent" marker. Yet it faded again.

Agreed, I love my set except for that. I never put them in the dishwasher, so that helps.
Ah advice: have 3 sieves, 1 as a strainer for sticky/sweet liquids: goo, pastry cream and other things 1 as a savory one: mashed potatoes, garlic infused butter etc; 1 for dry ingredients: as the name suggests. Ingredients that are dry.
My family's Kenwood stand mixed has been in our family for over 48 years and it still works perfectly! It's definitely worth the investment!
I love my kitchen aid...best Christmas gift ever (I also love my hand mixer!). All I really need is a kitchen with more than 4 feet of semi-usable counter space 😭 Also, good Pyrex measuring cups are heaven and have lasted through 3 generations of family bakers!
Excellent and very useful video! One thing I would add if I may is to buy as many of these items at a restaurant supply store as you can. You can usually find one in or around even smallish towns, or online. Not only is the equipment much, much sturdier, but most things are far less expensive. (Half-sheet pans for $3US, Ateco small offset spatula is ~$3, too). I have abused those sheet pans (putting them on a charcoal BBQ pit) and they still hold their shape & wash up clean. They have really cool and obscure stuff, like individual mint julep strainers. And the salespeople are really helpful in my experience. I would never buy baking gear anywhere else now.

Thanks for the tips! Will be looking out for a restaurant supplier. It's true that home kitchenware tends to be expensive.
Thank you so much Jemma. Very informative. This is such a big help now that I figured out that baking is my true passion and it's something I want to do for the rest of my life.
One of the most useful videos about cooking and baking. Thank you very much!
Thank you for this... You make our lives so much easier yourself with videos like this...
''you can never have too much bowls'' me: *stacks my whole house with bowls, no more bed, no more bathroom...just bowls* yes I think that's about right

That was very helpful...especially when I'm planning to start my own baking business...Thank you Cupcake Jemma
Wow you’re the best! So willing to share your recipes, the fails and everything with detailed information. I wish you the best and lots of success in your business!
TWO POINTS 1. Towards the end when you went through all your main essential, smaller lot of a cooking equipment. You described something used to pick things up with as 'one of these' , it looked like a fat pallet knife. 2. Anyone who has seen this and panicked because they want to make jam but they are now like "ahh, no thermometer!" Don't panic! With jam, ones the fruit has broken down and the sugar has been added keep it on a rolling boil, which is constant to the extent which they look like foam, basically, for about 8-10 minutes. Then take it off the heat, and do the ripple test. Mary Berry welcomed me to the world of the ripple test i have always had great results and never have i used thermometre!
I'm a commercial baker starting out and your video is like me coming back to my central kitchen. Down to the disposable airtight containers haha. Thanks Jemma!
I have been watching your channel for a few months now, and love it, but I just came across this equipment video. Since I am relatively new to baking, I found it very helpful. I would be very interested in any more equipment and behind the scenes videos! THANK YOU
I'm just getting to this one, but it's marvelous! My kitchen is bare bones for the most part and I want to amp up my baking. Thanks Jemma for the perfect starter list! 😎

I love all these essentials video. I entered cooking and baking (did not really start until I was late 20s, before that I just buy food), in a random haphazard manner. Now I would like to do it in a more systematic way so I can get the basics right and develop principal techniques and types of baked goods.

I just love her personality
So helpful, thanks Jemma!!
I love your work Jemma, I think you have an amazing personality! If you're ever in Seattle let me know! 😃
I find my cooling-rack essential. I'm no expert however I think that cakes cool better (more evenly?) if air circulates all around them. I tried using the spare rack that a took out of the oven before pre-heating it but a proper cooling rack is much better especially if the cake is resting directly on it. Thanks for the tips about decorating tools/equipment, after a few years of baking plain (tasty but un- decorated) cakes I am just starting with icing so I really appreciate your advice. All the best from Sweden!
Thank you Jemma .. this is very helpful!
Dear Jemma thank you so much for sharing it's very helpful and informative 👍

I love your channel. I being trying all your recipes. All of them work (I bearely cooked rice before without spoiling it ) =D you are amazing and you are making my time at home (during this COVID pandemic) so worth it. Thank you so much
My freestand mixer is part of my standing mixer so it's attachable and detachable I recommend one on those and my oven has a built in timer that automatically switches off the oven when the timer switches off
Hi Jemma, Firstly, thank you for being so amazing at what you do and sharing the wisdom. It’s Christmas around the corner and I wish your days are filled with joy and frosty cupcakes 🧁 Can you please do a video on what one might need to buy for a baking business? Like the recommended appliances. I went to search for kitchen aid and got lost with so many options.. hoping to hear from you.
Would you ever do a Macaron video?? I love them so much and it would amazing to make them at home for my friends :)

one thing I really wanted to see is how to store all these more efficiently. as a home Baker, keeping these all away from my normal kitcherware, I tend to lose things
