Sport - An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. I mean you move a little while playing games right ?? I mean my hands really are experiencing the exertion sometimes. Try to do a 12 hours nonstop lan. I was dying from exertion. Even fckin chess is considered a sport, so why not video games ? Either delete chess etc. from sports list or involve competitive video gaming. Sorry for my English btw. Still learning the language.

@@somebody6492 Video games are a game of the mind as well, in fact the closest comparison for games like league of legends or dota 2 are chess, you just perceive them differently for some reason. I don't. and in many ways physical sports approximate esports and chess in many many ways so much so that teaching a person concepts within one can be understood in another the same way. Its all perception I suppose, at the end of the day, but don't ask people to not compare the two lol, that's silly. I can correlate chess to games like rainbow six siege quite handily and even use the same phrases like "to take is a mistake", or the concept of weak and strong squares for formulating strategy in Rainbow six siege, just because most don't do that doesn't mean they couldn't, or shouldn't. If people treated most games like chess it would be an all around healthier activity for everybody involved.

Yeah, it's always a retarded arguement. Not just when it comes to sports either. A musician will listen to music, a mechanical engineer will find ingenius machinery made by others intresting, people watch others do things they thamselves do all the time cause that's what they are invested in.

eSports didn't ever needed traditional media to promote its platform, but Traditional media is using eSports' name to make $$$....

Cable is already dead, like most people I know don't even subscribe to cable. They just do internet and have streaming services on their TVs such as netflix and hbogo... It's inevitable that cable will sooner or later die, because what they are offering is mostly recycled contend and news, but with the trust decrease in news and the options streaming services give, all I see is people stopping to ever use cable. I myself do have a cable, but I think the only time I've ever use it is to like watch the news in the morning while drinking my coffee before work...

Esports is sports too but you can't call them Athletes. They are Professionals but Not Athletes. But don't compare it to Small Sports Compare it to the King of Sport(Football/Soccer). The Numbers of Esports becomes Inferior. The same goes to other sports too for eg comparing Ice Hockey to American Football or American Football to Football. What ever it is Esports is a Sport but it will never take the crown of Sports coz Football Exist

You are clearly didn't digested the video completely. It's more about the relation with traditional media, which is usually broadcasting traditional sport in more digestible way to general audiences. Esport as an emerging market, which fine as it is showing on streaming sites, but it somehow need traditional media to help reaching more audience, and traditional media always eyeing an emerging phenomenon. It's two way streets. You can say all you want about traditional sports don't need esports, yet more and more top sport teams also creating their own esport teams. Video game is already multi billions dollar industry, surpassing both music and movie in term of revenue. Esport quickly becoming a billion dollar show in the next few years. Like it or not it's here to stay and is growing more relevant. The future is now old man.

The World Cup is going to be quite a bit different than esports. It is much newer and still growing as a community. FIFA has been established for a very long time. And sure, they aren’t athletes, but they are incredibly smart. Something that most athletes can’t even remotely compete with

This is also not just a couple of tournaments like for example a cooking contest. This has entire tournament circuits around the esports. There are tournaments, analysts, casters, desk hosts, observers, fans, etc. It is so much better than just seeing who is the best at a game. There is teamplay, communication, strategy, tactics, skills, reaction speed, and much more involved. It is also far cheaper per viewer for advertisements than old sports. The fans of old sports are slowly getting older without newer and younger fans coming in. The fans of esports are young and new. Esports is the future of competition.
