Here are some decent tips for those who don't know: 1.Overalls don't matter, stats do. You can draft some 60 overall players with 80+ in all important stats. 2. For WR's, just look for the best hands. They will jump up the highest overall by the start of the next year. 3. Most teams pick RB's with their first pick, so try and avoid them. They are usually better options to trade for, like Deshaun Foster or Kevin Jones. 4. When you're done drafting and DGAF anymore, just draft safeties. They tend to be the best players last, and you can get players anywhere from 65-69 overall, which is great.

First round (by the computer) is exclusively OT, QB, HB, and DE. Do not EVER draft another position in the first. Trade that #15 pick (or whatever pick you have) for the 1st pick in rd 2. Also, no matter how great an OT is, the computer will never take him higher than #6 overall. A cheesy hack I discovered is to trade your 1st, 2nd, and 5th to whatever team is picking first overall in rds 1 and 2. (So, you trade away your 1st, 2nd, and 5th for the other team’s first and second.) That way, for a net “loss” of just a 5th round pick, you can get the best overall rookie at QB, DE, or HB, and the best player at any other position at the top of the second. A little cheesy, I know. But to me, any 1st round pick after about #8 or 9 is garbage compared to what you can get at the top of the second. (And pay him far less as well.)

The CPU controlled teams will only draft certain positions in the 1st Round (I believe they are QB, HB, T, DE. So the 1st pick of the 2nd Rnd (Pick 33) allows you to grab the best player at any other position (G, WR, DT, CB) - which makes 2nd round picks a lot more valuable in this game. Every player has a built in "Potential" rating that can't be seen, only viewed as time goes on and you can see the progression season by season. This "potential" rating is the ONLY thing that affects a players growth (after each preseason), it is not affected by season performance, game reps played, etc. So a player is either going to progress or decline each year no matter what, based on this invisible "potential" rating. Other notes- As far as drafting QB's, I user control every game so the Pass Read Coverage rating doesn't really matter. I'd rather covet QB's with high Pass Strength and Durability plus Speed helps. Also when drafting DB's I value the Coverage rating alot more than Speed, especially when playing a predominantly zone heavy defense (Cover 3, Cover 12,). But if I'm drafting a SS who is mostly playing in the box and hardly ever playing deep zone- I'd rather him have high Tackle rating and Run coverage over Speed. Just my preference. I also feel this way about Speed ratings and WR's - the Route Running is what gets the players open and they need to be able to catch the ball. Unless your plan is to send the guy on a "Go" route every time you want guys that can get open and make catches in traffic. There's a lot more I could say about overall team building as far as depth, cap management, trading, etc. but this was more of a reply to things you talked about in the video. This game is amazing. The only thing wrong that I have to nitpick about is the salary glitch when putting a player on IR.

Thanks for your feedback. I like the points you mentioned. I played with the Saints and Devery Henderson is like 96 or 97 speed and he rarely gets open while Jerry Rice is a route God with like an 81-speed rating and he gets open a lot when I watch the Cpu vs Cpu games.

To make the game fair and realistic, We used to draft the same positions the cpu drafted in the first round , So we didn’t end up with an unfair advantage/super team This game was and still is amazing . I only wished They had a playable mini camp based around off/pre season schedule to build rookies up User controlled. They could have just let us use the field from practice field . Maybe let us do a certain amount of plays from the play book day for day.

I just go to edit player ....(without modification). To see who was the college all-star.. by the uniform they have in that screen... They developed that first year like crazy

A pair of 6’6 wide outs is crazy if u get them to develop

Glad I found this. Before I would just cheat by seeing who everybody else drafted then check their ratings after to see and then leave Franchise mode and go back in before the draft and select them 😂😂😂 I was tired of drafting duds that had good scouting reports with actual low ratings while the cpu drafted ppl with mediocre scouting reports that were starting caliber rookies

If you want to you can edit rookie as well so you don't draft duds i edit my rookies but not so they can come out over powerful 70 to 75 overall is the highest i go i also trade away my first and second round picks to add more picks

The thing that people don't understand about NFL 25K and drafting rookies is that when you scout a rookie THEY HAVE TO BE ALMOST PERFECT AT EVERY RATING THAT MATTERS FOR THE POSITION THEY PLAY or else you are going to be drafting duds.

Not really for me, if they are great in one thing, and mediocre in other things I can work with. But progression happens after preseason is over so if they aren't good at first, they could be during the progression period every year if they get playing time.

Gotta disagree. I've had multiple WR's who have a great balance of stats get outplayed by someone who has fantastic catching but are slow with bad route running.

Don't know if you need alot of help on your team but maybe should have trade away a few old players and players couldn't resign and got some extra draft capital

Some times is best to check the phone to see who the best player needed for the team

yeah I did a separate video showcasing the phone. I found about that on NFL 2K4 not too long ago and went to NFL 2K5 to see if that feature was still there and it was. It helps allot. Now I can scout top players fully for the first 3 rounds and use the phone for the last 4 rounds of the draft.

no i do not. I allow rookies to progress the way they should. I drafted a 57 overall rookie and he progressed 12 points in overall after 1 year as a nickleback cause my starting CB got injured for most of the year. I guess the playing time helped.

I don't do rebuilds sort of say, I pick a team and try to win super bowls but I just trade, sign players. But I play every game that we're in. I don't skip through I play the season.

What does the color arrows mean for stocks ?

Green means they moved up in the from before they were scouted by teams. Red means they went down after scouted. This could mean a couple of factors either teams with early picks decided to pass on that player after scouted or a team with and early pick now wants a prospect that was ranked lower after scouted. Doesn't give details how far down they were and how far they moved up and vice-versa. So I use my strategy and it works.
