I've been working my way through the duolingo Esperanto tree for over a year and I am quite certain that I'd struggle in the interview more than she did. Definitely impressive.

OK already. I've now read Chuck's opening gambit. Even Tolstoy took a week, right, vis-à-vis Esperanto's grammar

I'm also learning Esperanto with Duolingo too! I know a few things they're saying without the captions.

Emmanuel Villanueva A lot easier if you already know some French and Spanish. The smattering of French, German, and French I taught myself really helped. It helped me recognize words and why they worked the way they did.

Mi amas auskulti Esperantistoj parolas al unu la alian. Esperanto estas belan kaj amuza lingvon, kaj mi tre sxatas gxin kiam mi vidas videtojn kiel cxi tiu. Bonan laboras! I love to hear Esperantists talk to one another. Esperanto is a beautiful and fun language, and I really like it when I see videos like this. Good job!

I come back to this video occasionally while learning Esperanto, just to help me get accustomed to the sounds and stuff of the language. For six days, she's very very good!

It sounds like a mix between spanish, italian, german, chinese, and english

There's also a significant influence from Slavic languages (the inventor of Esperanto was polish) For example the ne- prefix used for negation is taken directly from Slavic.

After learning Esperanto, you'll see that you'll already know a huge lot of french words, I think at least 50% of the Esperanto vocab is transparent with French, that's a big big plus. (I'm French)

Do Esperanto first. You'll recognize a lot of words when you dive into French, and verbs and pronunciation are much easier in Esperanto than in French. Esperanto took me just 4 months to learn. French will take someone at least a year to learn, even if they know another Romance language.

@@louleloup2607 And I learnt French from a very early age. French takes a very long time to learn and is full of exceptions. Esperanto is almost a piece of cake, it's so straightforward and logical. Go for Esperanto aYoungDev

this is a very interesting language, it sounds kinda Spanish and German and if I didn't know what it was I would probably just guess that it is some sort of European language. another reason it's interesting is that it sounds simple and easy to pick up because there seem to be some similarities with at least English and maybe some other languages

it's almost only indo european, the vocab is mainly derived from Romance languages and German, and so is the grammar, with Slavic influences as well.

I really don't think 6 days is nearly enough. I've been doing it on Duolingo for 131 days, around 100xp a day and I'm still a _komencanto!_ When I was at 6 days I had done already done around 3600xp and I could barely say anything. So maybe this woman did it but unless you do 12 hours a day, it's really gonna take at least 90 days and that's if you grind like 300xp a day consistently.

Li diris "bone", ne "bona". Bone estas "well" angle, sed bona ja estas "good". He said "bone", not "bona". "Bone" is "well" in English, but "bona" is indeed "good".

hah, it took me a year to get up to a conversational level with about a half hour of study per day. In two years, I was fluent. Having said that, nowadays people can learn even faster, because there are many great resources available like Duolingo and Lernu.net. Anyway, if you doubt my fluency, watch any video in my Chuck Tuje series, which are my live streams where I speak Esperanto at a normal speed. In this video, I spoke a bit slower than usual to help her understand me better.

Hype only. KZread has many false claims in learning Esperanto in short time like this in 6 days. Duolingo is associate of such a false claims! Esperanto is a complete language not some texts written for 6 days or even 6 months to be recited like this! It is a language and belong to every body not subject of false advertisements !!

English is massively harder. There are so many exceptions to the rule, conjugations, larger base vocabulary... A lot of people find it much easier to learn Esperanto. I can understand a lot of what I read in Esperanto in just a few days. I could never do that in another language.

English is incredible hard to learn for noneuropean language speakers. Esperanto is like meeting half-way. The average chinese-esperantist speaks way better esperanto than the average chinese-english-speaker. Have you ever tried listening to education videos from india? They speak (and write) perfect english but the accent makes it near impossible for me (as a unexperienced non-native english) to understand it.
