    *Running an EQ on the effects loop and with some combos, straight in, ultimately gives you the ability to replicate a lot of equipment to great accuracy from any gear.* As an engineer one of the first things I reviewed were speaker and cabinet simulating schematics and they're fundamentally just fixed RC filters with carved voltages so the response curve coming out of the circuit when hit with a 1 Khz Sine wave matches that which comes out from a speaker under the same test. From there, the speaker can be put through bandwidth sweeps, waveforms and varying input voltage to refine the circuit in accuracy, but because this is a prediction based science, it's not uncommon that the circuit in it's base form will already have a fair amount of response accuracy which is why you see these simulation circuits are very often of the same concepts in circuitry for their final forms. A broad bandwidth EQ and the right speakers are literally 75% of the journey in obtaining what you want from a rig.

    Hey Ola cheers from Florida! just wanted to say as a drummer I really dig your channel. I'm also a self-taught guitar player and have been since my early teenage years but never really took it as seriously as drums and kind of plateaued out a long time ago. with that being said it would be cool to see a video explaining in depth different tunings and how to achieve them as well as different string gauges and what works best in different situations.🤘

    FAQ: How did you learn (basic-) music theory? I play bass and guitar (mainly bass) and want to be better in quickly jamming with others or when someone sends me something he recorded, that i can quicker know what to play? Yesyes, the most important is intuition, feel and all this stuff, but theory may help a lot to get started way quicker. Thank you for making FAQs again. Watching since the beginning :)

    I put in a 10-band EQ in the FX loop of my amps and it helped roll off just enough high frequency that was hurting my ears (tinnitus, y'all), and fine tuned the mids. Sounds MUCH better.

    One issue with Fractal gear is the availability. Especially in Europe. For example, if you are a smaller artist, bork your FM3 during a tour and you are screwed if you don't have a backup. Unless you have connections or get hands on a loaner device. They pretty much have only one dealer in the whole Europe and it's online. And if you are really unlucky, they are often out of stock. Meanwhile, in many cases you could just walk into your local music store and buy a Quad Cortex or an Helix/HX Stomp (or any such device) off the shelve.

    Thanks for replying to my question Ola, I think you really answered it properly... Even though Metallica is a bigger deal for me than it is to you, I think somehow we discovered it pretty much the same way, I had also heard about them through MTV and decided to delve into their discography and... they've been my favourite band ever since. They helped me a lot into liking - little by little - more and more extreme bands as time went by. I did a bit of the opposite route as well, I became more and more interested into hard rock stuff and also the classic metal songs that were successful before Metallica. They have definitely been a pivotal point in building my rock and metal knowledge fs.

    Most traditional amp EQ’s are subtractive and filter out frequencies across a broad range and overlapping manner across the bass, treble and middle controls. An active EQ can boost or cut particular frequencies.

  • @StephGV2
    @StephGV2Ай бұрын

    The EQ in the loop is post preamp distortion, where the EQ in the amp tone knobs contributes to overdrive distortion. You can make almost any high gain amp sound almost like any other high gain amp with eq pedals in front and in the FX loop.

    The neck shape and fretboard radius plays a huge part into the feel and playability selection of a guitar. I don't have freakishly long fingers so I tend to prefer the thin neck profiles with a flatter fretboard (16-20" radius). Tough part is getting your hands on some of these guitars to see what you prefer. I've had to buy to try on a few of guitars.

    I like all guitars that don't suck overall. I just ordered the last Epiphone Les Paul Prophecy in Olive Tiger on a german online music shop. So happy with it. I would consider a ESP or LTD 1000 Deluxe series or Solar without Floyd. I love the tunomatic style guitars or the Quick change system of Ibanez models. Got this Iceman 420 model and changing strings never have been better. Changed the tuners with locking Sperzel tuners and the nut with a Graphtech NuBone. Oiled the fretboard. Plays like a wet dream. Pickups are not waaaw but can't complain. Thinking of switching them with the Vai DiMarzio PIA set since they kinda look like the super 80's but flashier.

    52 for drop C! I used for a long time 11-54 for C standard, but now I drop to A# a lot and I'm in the middle of a never ending quest for the right thickness. Next try will be D Addario med top/heavy bottom 11-56. I think I'm using now 13-56 Jazz medium on one guitar, and 12-60 on the other but the 60 replaced with a 59. Still I think both are too heavy.
