Many moons ago back in the 1970s during my early years living in nyc I had the opportunity to attend one of his community music events at his synagogue on the upper west side. His enthusiasm for music while jumping up and down like a kid emotionally charged all of us. May he rest in peace

To czynił ku chwale HaShem! Cuda poczynił. A ku chwale HaShem. Muszę pracować w Shabbat. Lecz bez myzyki Rabbi Shlomo nie pracuję. Tu masz serce żydowskie, gdzie muzyka Rabina Shlomo. A przybył Shlomo od HaShem, by unosić serca, nawet tych, którzy zobowiązali się pracować w Shabbat. Od Avinu jest Rabbi Shlomo. Bardzo pouczył mnie w miłości do Żydów i Izraela; i do HaShem. Tarczą dobra i prawdy jest dla mojej duszy.

In January 1963 I officially began my service a the Jewish Chaplain's Assistant at Fort Jackson South Carolina. My chaplain, Rabbi Arfthur L Fine tzl, was a close friend of Rabbi Carlebach and he had convinced Reb Shlomo to travel to Columbia, SC and deliver a concert at the Columbia Jewish Community Center. While I had been listenening to Carlebach albumns for a few years this was the first time I heard him on stage. His performance left me with very fond memories.

I met Shlomo Carlebach personally for the first time in Antwerp when I was a teenager. He taught us to sing Eso Einai and other nigunim! All my friends and him became friends and together we made a trip to Paris where he also met more friends and performed. Many years. later we also met in Tel Aviv. My husband and I we often remember and talk of himi Lea Ressler - Tel Aviv

Schlomo was a great inspiration to all students in Torah and Music.He was a great friend,and cared a lot about people.

How tremedously moving and beautiful. The holy Shlomo touches the soul in the way no other singer can. May his holy jester the great Dovid Herzberg be up there singing this with him.

I remember when he came to Arie Crown Hebrew Day School when I was in 3rd or 4th grade. Circa 1958 or 1959. Thanks for the memory

Schlomo was an inspiration to us as college students both religious and those in doubt.He was a great human being ,who loved people whom he saw as G_DS creation.May Hashem watch over him

aI first saw Rabbi Shlomo in Israel in 1977. I then went to many of his london Concerts. I love his tunes for well known Hebrew songs from anything from a daily service to a Yom Tov. I have records of his as well.

I listen to this and I lift up mine eyes......everytime without fail

In 1985 (Rosh Hashana - Yom Kipur - Soekot) My family and me had the privelage to be at the moshav Mevo Modiim with rav Shlomo Carlebach z"l. Many times we sang together o.a. this nigun while sitting on the grass near the synagogue. These were the days.....

Try to get the book "Holy Brother" by Yitta Halberstam Memdelbaum. Thats a good start. Reb Shlomo was an unbelievable person! But I dont know how he did it.

I met him only a couple of times.. once on his moshav at Modiin and again in Jerusalem, both times he was conducting the wedding of friends of mine. At the moshav he spoke to be briefly and seemed to be a kind , thoughtful soul, reaching out to everyone. In both cases totally into and dedicated to what he does. It seems he managed to combine a Zen, 60s consciousness 'hippy' approach with a Jewish Chassidish approach, and has contributed a great deal to Jewish music.

I am not a woman would be written slightly differently, either אשה איני or אני לא אשה
