I got long way to go before I get my first sponsor, lol. Seems like that canal is loaded with trout. Great video my friend.

I'm telling you Leo, there's a spot up here in Lycoming County called Sandy Bottom on the Loyalsock creek and while the average size of trout I catch in my area is accurate to your calculations, Sandy Bottom always seems to have some big trout hanging around. I've caught at least five 16in. and bigger there on different occasions. there's been times there where I've only caught 1 fish, but that fish is always a beast!

About time for us regular folks, lol...

Trout season is finally here! Nice ones Leo! The Stocked Brook Trout in my area wanted spoons. Not straight retrieved but on the drop or ripped off the bottom was the key. Got 8 this weekend and lost 2 more. All catch and release.

Not sure for Joseph, vibratingstring. But in my case, I enjoy catching the stocked Trout; however, I can no longer eat it due to my Gout Arthritis. D: When family wants some, I take some. Otherwise, they all go back nowadays. That's why I avoid using Power Bait for them as well! Got to make sure that they don't swallow or get hooked in the gills; otherwise, the survival ratio goes down by a lot. Lol.

I enjoy catching and eating trout. However I did not want to eat any this weekend so I was there for the sport alone. You can certainly catch and release stocked trout as long as you use things like spoons or in-line spinners that the trout don’t swallow like I did.

You definitely should get something back only reason I know about eurotackle is because of you and got the 10% discount too

Leo.... They should offer an add on trailing hook for that plastic, the Trout are nipping at the extra length of that plastic, before the hook starts & will often ONLY grab that part as well. If you add a slip over double hook... It will extend that 2nd hook to the tip of that plastic ! Bam you get them every time... They either get the 1st hook or the trailing hook 👌 Trust me, it works... You can make your own too, just have to get the eyelet to barely with force, snap over the hook barb ! So tightly it won't come back off with out crimping the 1st hook barb.

Thanks 4 that love... 👌 I always try to use a smaller hook for trailing... You can always get that bigger fish with the smaller trail hook, but not a smaller fish with a larger trail hook ! And flip it in the opposite direction from the 1st hook... 2 options for hooking !

The Anisoptera is deadly for pan fishing!!! I put them on a 1/64 jig under a float and the bluegill/sunfish can't resist it. I need to try them for trout the next time I go out.

Im hyped for the trout season

All my early season spots up here in nova Scotia got hit hard opening day of the regular season, hell i found half a spools worth of weighted fly line in a tree....like how do you lose yards of weighted fly line, like tippet line i understand but fly line bruh comeon (not to mention numerous worm containers) sometimes i really wonder why some people even bother if there just going to trash the ecosystem

@vibratingstring yeah but at least half of the fish are already taken from the body of water by then and the fishing pressure is incredibly high so it makes conditions a lot less fun

I live by there and I fish there all the time! I was there the same day about a half mile up canal. I have caught some big goldens there in the past!

Our state trout stocking is over it started in December, caught them on powerbait no luck on plastic will try next season

Those 9 inchers are still bigger than what they stock in my area. Also i cant believe Pennsylvania is stocking trout in that canal. Thats not normal trout habitat. It doesn't even look like moving water. 😮

Ok, now ive got a question, and this is said with no hate or ill intention, I am asking because I consider you somebody respectable and more knowledgable than myself... Are we not worried about the safety of the trout's jaw when we are pulling them up over the bank, suspended from the jaw like that?

Not at all, Probably Skunked. And that is a good question. If you lip the Trout and you BEND the jaw at a >45 degrees angle, then you have a chance of damaging it. However, just by lifting it up from a vertical standpoint, there is no harm whatsoever, UNLESS the fish is gut-hooked or the hook is in the GILLS of the fish. Then, absolutely, by no means lift the fish up like that. Use a net, unhook in the water, and try to salvage the fish if practicing CPR. That's actually one reason why I use jigs when CPRing Trout...cuz the odds of getting the single hook on the gills or gut hooks are lower than treble hooks and power bait, etc.

Leo maybe try some little jerkbaits and crank baits. I catch my limit all the time with them.

Hi leo, what color would you recommend for the anastopia (please excuse any misspellings)? Also what size jighead are you throwing it on? Im new to trout fishing and i want to give it a shot!

The jig model and type is in the description of the video, Ethan. As for colors, I usually prefer the Chartreuse, and the darker colors. Though, PINK has always been a favorite of mine..haha

I use a 1/32 oz. Eurotackle Soft-Lock Tungsten jig, size 6 hook.

That is correct, Matthew. I measured only 5, as if I caught my limit. But I caught 17 total for the day (12 after this video was shot). All of them were released.

Good questions, Keith! I have been asking myself the same question...I don't think the sales of Trout Stamps have gone down at all, and yet, this year it feels that the quality of fish has gone down.

Looks a LOT like the smaller soft plastic hellgrammites.

I have used hellgrammite type soft plastics before. The Anisoptera is a Dragonfly larvae imitation. Two entirely different bugs. Lol. And the action between lures is entirely different too...
