    I have an idea with cards, but each card represents a CATEGORY, such as Noun, Verb, adjectives and etc parts of speech. give each child some cards and let them put them in order to construct the skeleton of a sentence. Then, have other color coded cards for Subject, Verbs etc parts of speech and put those on top of the previous cards. Trying to give them idea of a sentence, how it goes together. just an idea.

    I hate to sound negative, because you do an awesome job, but does every game/lesson have to involve flashcards and a convenient group of about 12 children in a semi-circle. Many us have classes of 25-35 children even with so called covid-19 restrictions, and we don't have the time or resources to make flashcards for every lesson? Can you please demonstrate some games with large classes? Cheers.........and keep up the great job that you are doing. I have gleaned a lot of knowledge from your videos. :)

    Hi, thanks for watching and for the feedback, I appreciate your comments! Let me try to explain why I structure the videos in this way. The goal of my videos is to explain game ideas to teachers step by step and I use animation to help explain the game ideas. If I were to add 25 animated students into the video, then the screen would become quite busy and the explanation might not be as clear. So I limit the number of animated students. However, that doesn't mean that the game can only be used for that number of students. The classes I teach actually are relatively large, 21 students for classes aged 2-3 years and 25 students for classes of students aged 4-6. Many of the games I share can be used for these larger groups, but classroom management becomes very important. Every class set up will be different depending on classroom size and available space, so it's difficult to give a one-size fits all example for everyone. I hope teachers can take the idea and adjust it to suit their class, classroom and resources. In terms of flashcards, if you're not using flashcards, what are you using as a visual representation when introducing new language? Realia is always much better if you have those resources and can be used in the same way as flashcards. You can also draw images on a whiteboard instead of flashcards, students will likely love seeing your attempts at drawing different items. I would love to know what challenges you face when teaching larger groups, especially during these pandemic times? Perhaps I can make a video specifically helping address those issues. Thanks again for the feedback, I hope I have helped explain my thinking behind my videos 😊

    Hi Nastaran, thanks for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! I appreciate the suggestion, thanks for commenting 😊 Unfortunately there are quite a few challenges with putting students online. KZread has quite a few policies that can cause issues with the channel and I would need parents permission from every student in each video. So for now I've chosen not to put students on the channel. That said, there are a couple of great channels that do show students in the class that I can recommend. • @MooncakeEnglish

    @MooncakeEnglish

    Hi Pearl, thanks for watching, let me try explaining a different way and see if that helps. I think it's best understood if we think about teaching numbers. First imagine this scenario... 1. Students are sat in a circle. Let's say you have 20 students. 2. One by one, you go around the circle and students say a number, the first student says one, the student next to them says two and you continue going around the circle until you get to twenty and every student has said a number. In this scenario, students know who's turn it is to say a number, because you are going around the circle one by one. Now imagine that you haven't told students to go around the circle one by one. Student's don't know who's turn it is to say a number. Because there is no specific order for students to speak, two students may say a number at the same time. If that happens, they need to start again. Does that help make it clearer? I also have blog where I explain the game, you can find that here www.mooncakeenglish.com/post/drill-vocabulary-the-right-way-with-etacude if that might help too!

    Hi Macaron, thanks for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! Shy students can be tricky, I suggest trying more group chanting rather than individual students speaking.
