Solid episode, great perspectives shared. I think there is a tidal change happening in the sport and I’m excited to see where it all goes. Respect to mboards for taking the criticisms of the past to fuel the success of their future.

LaCroix is LaKaput, niche boards serve the few & not enuff $$ to this niche market unless u double the current price,if people are in the niche market then they have big disposable income to begin with so they wont blink at the price, if not that then u have to make it up in volume & lower the price while mainting the QC.

Dude this is super depressing, first kaly nyc in February and Lacroix in October. Next Bajaboards or Bioboards are gonna go under.

@RaySpencersArtWork Yeh, I've gotta agree there. Before they announced they were going out of business, they didn't really seem to refund everyone that had a pending order.

EB companies come and go. Requires all the capital and the margins are small. Most annoying part of the industry.

I was chanting USA. USA. USA. Thanks Mike for all your hard work. Esk8 con is my favorite holiday of the year! Sad to see the top brands go but it’s true. You don’t truly have the best product if you don’t have customers backing it. Profit numbers matter as much as 5 star reviews. My guess would be on Lorentz boards becoming the new top dawg for most boutique board. Great episode

I bought a 2020 lacroix nazare super sport with the focbox unity for 1600 bucks last summer. It’s my favorite board. Now that they gone out of business I feel like I’m part of an elite club some can only dream of. I got spare pulleys and a bunch of belts so hoping for the long run.

This podcast is very informative and i am starting to see how hard it is for companies to break out and or survive. Unfortunately, i think Defiant Board Society is going through the same problems. I purchased a board from them back in july when their sale was 700 off. Ive been in contact damon pretty much every month asking bout how production is going. Through the deck recalls for the cracks towards the front. As time progressed, ive seen sales that ranged from $500-$1000. The $1000 was on black friday and funny enough. The black friday sale i remember, was like $300-500 off. Last back and forth ive had with damon was the end of November. New decks were suppose to be delivered on the 18th of December and that is suppose to handle some of the recall decks and back orders. Im hoping to get an update from damon since he is fairly vocal on these things.

In terms of all Lacroix becoming DiY, I found that hypertrucks have a lot of clearance, unlike many other trucks. My DiY has a LSSS deck and enclosure with aftermarket parts for everything else. This is going to be a real problem if we can't buy Hypertrucks anymore. All these Lacroix boards will become DiY boards and here's what I noticed. The way Hypertrucks are designed they have blue/red hangers that allow them to hang lower which allows the board to have decent clearance. If you look at the DiY esk8 industry I haven't found many alternatives that do the same, which means you'll end up like the DiY I have here with only 1.7" of clearance. Now, I am finding ways to mitigate this. I've looked at 1" billet riser pads (not rubber or plastic) that will give clearance with aftermarket trucks, but at a 35 degree angle only 38% of a riser will actually contribute to height and the remaining will contribute to length. Also bigger tires help as well, but I really don't like that.

Dey are still improving there stuff. sad another esk8 company has gone down, i guess it is wat it is. DIY esk8 the way to go for me. open source, custom , you name it. i picked up a brand new Maker X DV6 Pro from a friend and am yet to run it on my Trampa gear drive setup.

And this was my dream board because it is WIDE. I COULD GAF ABOUT WEIGHT or speed. They made a wide board that could go 100 miles on one charge THAT IS ALL A MAN WANTS IN AN ELECTRIC SKATEBOARD.. but the board cost as much as a Harley Davison motorcycle.
