    Great ride! I have ebike and escooter also but nothing beats the feeling of eskate, no handle bar infront, totally wide open, just floating on air. Long trip ebike, short trip escooter, but when I just want to have fun, it's always the eskate. I'm over 50 and been riding skateboard all my life and eskate last 4 years and I still get speed wobbles at higher speed, so just take it slow and enjoy the ride.

    Thanks for watching the video and welcome to the channel James! I have to 100% agree with you. Scooters and bikes are fun and efficient ways but nothing can replicate the feeling of freedom of riding the board. I skated alot as a kid/ teenager so there's something nostalgic yet epic about carving through the city on a powered board! Thanks for chiming in and thank you for the advice. Hopefully, we'll see longer more chill rides in the city as I get more miles under my belt

    thanks for joining us on this commute and welcome to the channel Dexter! I 100% agree with you. The controller is nice but hard to hold with heavy gloves and makes recording difficult. I would love to have something that combines EUC and OneWheel tech with the board. We already shift our weight forward to brace for acceleration and shift our weight back to brace for hard braking. I'm sure it's possible to control it that way because that would be cool!

    Thanks for watching the video and welcome to the channel David! I'm glad you enjoyed it because it was alot of fun despite the stressful nature of a commute to the city. Interestingly enough, it took me 400 miles of practice over the span of 6 months to work up the courage to do this. I wish I was able to get more miles under my belt but it seems like "Pacific North West Wet" is the new norm for the city. I feel like its constantly raining and I don't want to ride the board in the wet since it isn't water resistant and I won't know how to fix rusted parts. Thank you, stay safe out there as well and hope you can take the trip into the city one day! I'll keep doing it until NYPD, FDNY, and their PEV hating supporters tell me to stop. At that point, I'll just do joy rides between in Queens and group rides in NJ!

Congratulations on your new board, enjoy the heck out of it! Before jumping into traffic, just make sure you're pretty solid with your fundamentals. Take your time learn to accelerate hard, brake hard, and make sure you can maneuver your board without having to really think about it. Also, gear up! My armor and helmet saved me from a bum knee, broken elbow, and a shredded face on that hard fall that I took early on in the learning process.

    Thanks for watching the ride Steven! I'm so happy to hear that you've been enjoying your time on the board! That was my goal when I started the whole "Learn to Esk8 Series". It wasn't easy, but it wanted to get folks to try it with me. Best case scenario, they end up like us loving the sport. Worst case, you had a good time learning and you could always sell the board to get some of the money back. At the end of the day, we can say we tried something new! I didn't record on the way home because I wanted to enjoy the ride more. I was able to go a bit faster and carve a bit more since I didn't have to worry about a 3ft long camera pole hitting someone in the face hahaha. I hope some of the esk8 companies would be open to working with me in the future. I would love to try a high powered Direct Drive Board. In the meantime, I'm going to brush up on my esk8 knowledge because some of these guys speak a whole nother language in their review videos lol.

With a 3ft long camera stick, filming equipment, and trying to make commentary took my anxiety to the next level lol. I'm already stressed and I haven't even attempted rush hour yet hahahaha. Congrats on the first successful commute on the esk8!!! And yes, I could definitely hear the increased anxiety in your voice... and rightly so! Since you posted the video, I guess we can assume you survived the ride back home, lol! Regarding the gloves, it's just too damn dangerous wearing fully winter gloves IMO, especially in the higher modes where the sudden acceleration of a bump of the throttle can really throw you off balance. I'd suggest taking a crappy righthanded winter glove and slowly start removing the thumb tip until you find a balance of warmth and feel for the throttle controller. Maybe even wear a very thin glove under it, or just over your thumb, if you need a layer over the skin. I received the RS several weeks ago (awesome scooter BTW!), but I haven't really been using it as I still am enjoying the esk8 so much more than the scooters. Now that the weather is cooler I haven't been riding as much, but I've still been trying to take the board out every so often. I've been seeing a woman that has a place in the city (22nd St I believe), she wants me to come out there soon. I've been thinking about bringing the board in with me, but I don't think my board (with the TKP trucks) has the turning radius to safely ride in the city... at least with my skills anyway, lol! But who knows, maybe I'll give it a try if the weather is warm enough. Or it's an excuse to order another board, lol!

  • @eyebahnrides

    thanks for watching! I'm glad that you've still been finding time to ride despite the crazy cold and that stretch where we had torrential rain every weekend for 3 months lol. You might be able to navigate the city with the tkp if you loosen them a bit, I know a few of the guys in the esk8 community here that duck and weave through the tightest turns with that set up but they keep it super loose. But in my eyes they're skills are on a different planet compared to mine lol. It will be a fun way to get from the metronorth to 22ndst! The anxiety was to the max on this ride. I was really trying to showcase how narrow the margins for error are on that bridge with all the crazy delivery people, commuters, and the pedestrians. My anxiety level was even higher than usual because I was trying to speak while being mindful as to where that 3foot pole with my insta360 was. Last thing I want to do is smack another person and be liable for causing a pile up lol. That's also why I didn't record on the way home. It was much more relaxing to not have to worry about the commentary and my recording setup. It actually allowed me to blast it and even do a carve session on the bridge! I'll try to find a pair of gloves i can chop up or I might just wear the handlebar mits over my normal gloves and throw a hand warmer in there hahaha. Congrats on the RS! Happy to hear you're enjoying it. I've been reading some pretty mixed reviews on it so far. I also take everything i read on the forums with a grain of salt since people like to complain about the smallest things lol. I'm still looking for an excuse to get a DD board from Acedeck or Onsra, but I may just put that on hold for the new year. I have to focus on saving up funds for a new computer for editing since my poor computer is on it's last leg. I'm holding out for as long as I can because a macbook pro costs as much as a highend scooter/ emoto!

Maybe just use a helmet cam and one mounted on the front or back of the board? Thanks for the tip on the trucks, I STILL haven't touched them from how they shipped from the factory as they feel great for where I normally ride. i used to have an Evolve GTR Carbon eskate. The AT tires were a game changer. But road gaps/damage and holes required extra attention while riding. Especially when cruising 15+mph. I much prefer the escooter, the 4 points of contact with the escooter make it feel like Im in better control vs the eskate. Don't get me wrong, these are super fun.

    thanks for watching this one as well! I enjoyed the low center of gravity of the street wheels but the AT pneumatics are unmatched for comfort on the city roads. I cut it out but I did hit a pothole at 15mph and almost lost control lol. I think I might reserve esk8 as my joy riding and doing local errands and the scooter/bike for my usual commuting. The stress level is just a bit too high even though it's fun as hell. Though I may change my mind once I hit 1000+miles on the board.

    thanks for joining us for this ride and welcome to the channel Edwin! That's epic that you can ride the Atlas everyday! Riding makes me sore and I need a day to recover from a commute like this (10miles round trip). When you experience the fatigue do you just shift your weight around or do you take rest at the next "stop" on your ride

    Thanks for watching! lol it's definitely something that I have to be mindful of when navigating that tight bikelane on the bridge. Most of my anxiety during this ride was making sure I didn't hit someone with the 3ft stick while navigating all the craziness around me and commenting on it lol. That's the biggest reason, it took me so long to make a video on the commute. It may be a while before I even try a rush hour commute because just thinking about it stresses me out hahaha

    Thanks for watching this video! It's was a sad day when I had to deliver the Nami to its new owner. I even almost hesitated to hand over the keys to him lol. I'll do my best to make sure I'm safe on the board. I'm still not quite 100% on it so I'm fully armored (pants and shirt ) on all my rides with it. However, I don't think the day will come where I'm not wearing body armor since it's protected me from some pretty serious falls!

    thanks for watching Sean! Skillman ave gets really crazy now that there's a ghost kitchen there. There's always a fleet of mopeds and illegally parked vehicles right after the park. My shredlights setup is 2x SLFX+ under the board, 2x SL1000 in the front, and finally 2x SLR1+. If you're planning on picking them up with the Cyber Week sale, use my link below and coupon code! Thanks for watching and welcome to the channel! These are some pretty heavy duty winter gloves that I picked up last year. I’ve ridden in subzero temperatures on max settings but can ride comfortable around 30-40 degrees on the lowest settings. I’m trying to find an old pair of winter riding gloves I can cut open so I can feel the controls throttle. The camera on a 3 foot pole while navigating morning congestion definitely added to the stress lol. I decided not to record the ride home and I actually had fun on that bridge. I was confident enough to open it up a little and do a little carving when the it opened up!

  • @eyebahnrides

    @eyebahnrides

    Thanks for watching! hahaha It can definitely be much more dangerous than the scooter since it's not quite as stable, doesn't have the same torque, and isn't as respected as a bike/ scooter when with traffic! However, it's much more compact size makes it much easier to bring into the office and where I can just throw it into a closet lol. There's also a much more freeing feel to riding the board that I haven't been able to replicate on anything else. I ride much more conservatively when I have to talk and manage the camera, but it's more fun when the camera's off!

    I've only done a few collaborations for some scooters and ebikes but I haven't done any for esk8 yet. Since I'm so new to the hobby and I'm still trying to get comfortable on the board, so I haven't accepted any collaborations yet. There's a completely different lingo that I'm learning that's taking some time (geometry, battery set up, wheel hardness, truck setup, bushings, bearings, motors, deck composition, remote settings, etc...). When I feel a bit more comfortable on the board and comfortable with my esk8 knowledge, I'm open to collaborating with esk8 companies. I want to make sure that its a win-win-win for my audience, myself, and the company I'm collaborating with.
