I’ve only used a friends ESEE 6 and liked it so much that I’m saving up to buy one. He says he hasn’t had any issues with edge retention. We batoned, carved and made feather sticks with no problems. If you use the front finger choil it will carve nicely for a larger bladed knife. He keeps a thin coat of mineral oil on the blade and has never had rust.

I have a CS Drop Forged Survivalist for about €90,-- Now, I really like the looks of Esee6 a lot, but they cost more than 2 times the price, about €210,-- over here. Sincere question : Is the Esee6 really 2 times 'better'? Stronger? Tougher? Stays sharp longer? Thanks in advance to all responders! Greets from the Netherlands 🇳🇱, TW.

I love Esee, but at that price it is hard to justify unless you badly want one. The steel used between the two knives are very comparable, so not enough of a difference there. Though I have no experience with that specific cold steel knife yet, I have heard great things about it and I’m sure it will serve you well.

@@MNWoodland : I can't really explain the price difference either. Thank you for your response, I really appreciate it 👍

A fine suggestion, but I personally don’t like to put my hand that close to the blade/ahead of the guard.
