I see a lot of comments about body fat , I was hoping to see more about the noble spirits of these men and women and their service to all of us, no matter who we are. God bless them all !!!

noble spirits only get you so far, until you go down inside a house with smoke banked down to the floor and someone smaller than you has to try and drag you out. Fitness is the difference between life and death

As a firefighter cadet, I have seen larger men and women in the first responder service. Just because they are larger doesn’t mean they are unhealthy or out of shape. They could be in the best physical shape of their life. Firefighters often go through many physical evaluations a year to make sure we are fit for the job.

Hey question for you why do some volunteer FDs allow bears and some don’t im about to start volunteering at a VFD in Virginia and they basically said go tees or beards because the respirator can’t fit properly so why do some allow it and some don’t if it seems to be a firefighter safety problem

@@damaribrackett1159 it all depends you really shouldn't have any facial hair because it could mess with the seal on your mask. But i have heard of some volunteer companies letting you guys have short beards as long as it does affect the seal on your mask. Better off to be clean shaven then you don't have to worry about anything.
