ESD Practices for PCB Assembly and Repair
This is the introductory information for the use of proper ESD practices in an electronics assembly or repair operation. Norman Mier, Master Instructor, will go through the basics if ESD including how to properly transport and handle electronics properly cs and components, how to dress properly and make sure your body is properly grounded when handling electronics. This is a great little course taught by a very experienced instructor and can be used as part of your internal training or as a review or introduction prior to your training as a soldering technician. Ой, здравствуйте!
A question, we have ESD floor and the work table and surface rug are ESD, it is necessary to land it to physical ground the surface rug and the work table ??

They must be connected to a ground otherwise the benefits of the flooring and table are not realized (I’d be surprised if the flooring was installed *without* it being deliberately connected to earth ground... Unless it was a DIY install..)
If esd straps are necessary why have i never seen any of the component level circuit board repair specialists (louis rossmann, ststelecom, northridgefix, sorin, dustin malahay) ever use them in any of their repair videos? Did i miss the 1 video that each of them wore one or were they all wearing them off camera?

Hi, Thanks for your question! First, please allow me to apologize for the delay in replying to your question. I am not able to speak to why others are not wearing ESD straps. It's possible they are grounded off camera or using another ESD device. I would suggest asking the individuals about their ESD practices. Thanks for your question and for watching out content! I watch those guys you mentioned as well. They are good at what they do but I think they may just not be aware of the real risks of esd since it is so invisible to us and doesnt always cause instant observable damage. Louisrossman for example just started out as a diy guy who had no training or knowledge and thus may not be aware or may not think its a big deal. I agree with the comment above, it would be interesting to ask them what they think of esd and how they think it should be dealt with.
