ESD Cleanup Part 1 ~ The Metals

About a year and a half ago I attended the ESD city cleanup to get some video of their soon-to-be-replaced diesel PakMors destroying some bulky household waste. The cleanup is made up of 4 or 5 trucks and a bunch of volunteers. Seen in this video is the truck dedicated to metal and was my favorite to watch. Another truck handled greenwaste and 2 or 3 more were dedicated for standard garbage. This event was quite a bit of fun to be at and has to be the easiest filming experience ive ever had! Haha

Awesome! Great to see metal being recycled. The packer must take a beating, chomping through the same stuff its made of... great video can't wait for the rest!

Seeing that exercise equipment being destroyed was amusing to see. It reminds me of when a UWS Pak Mor completely destroyed 2 basketball hoops. I was also amused when the second truck in the last portion of your video "ate' the barbecue grill, without having to return the packer constantly. Great post!

That last guy was a professional sanitation man you could tell. I for one, would not be putting my hand in there like that in the middle of a compaction cycle.
Nice video! It's also cool to see women helping out with the cleanup!

Dont think Ive seen a packer struggle like this lol unless it was faulty hydraulics to begin with. Those metal-on-metal creaking sounds made me cringe so much! All those stubborn items most take a toll on the packer in the long run huh. Nevertheless this was fun to watch and you kept me entertained the entire video. Glad to see they are diverting this much material.

Dang those people who are throwing out their metal items should've sell them to a scrap yard for cash.

+SoCalGarbageTrucks, When will people understand? That blade is designed for compressing GARBAGE BAGS, not whatever you can fit in there. However; a lot of garbage men will pickup anything because, they don't want to get in trouble from neighborhood complaints. Also, that guy at 08:13; pulling harder on the levers, DOES NOT mean that the blade will compress any harder or faster.

People are throwing away money feeding that truck. If you've got your scrap metal already in the pick-up, why not take it to scrap metal recycling to get paid for your load? Or don't they have that in California?
Hard on the equipment ? Why not try to crush a small car
She has a ice brisket
