Escaping Market Stalkers in Egypt 🇪🇬

In this video I walk around a market in Cairo, the capital city of Egypt, is a bustling metropolis situated on the banks of the Nile River. With a rich history that spans millennia, Cairo is home to iconic landmarks such as the Pyramids of Giza, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The city's historic significance is further exemplified by the Egyptian Museum, which houses an extensive collection of artifacts, including the treasures of Tutankhamun.
Modern Cairo is a vibrant blend of tradition and contemporary life, characterized by its bustling markets, known as souks, where locals and visitors alike can immerse themselves in the lively atmosphere and vibrant colors. The city's Islamic architecture is evident in landmarks like the Citadel of Saladin, while the Khan El Khalili bazaar offers a glimpse into the city's diverse culture through its diverse array of shops and street vendors.
Cairo's cosmopolitan character is reflected in its diverse population and the array of cultural events hosted throughout the year, from traditional festivals to modern art exhibitions. The city's energy is palpable, with busy streets, a dynamic street food scene, and a nightlife that caters to a variety of tastes. Overall, Cairo stands as a dynamic testament to the enduring legacy of Egypt's past and the pulse of its present. In the video I explore the area as well as talk to a lot of people to get an understanding of how they live and what they do. It is a simple vlog and an attempt to make a vlog filming people like many other vloggers have had success with. It is a similar style to bald and bankrupt, kurt caz, harald balder, harry jaggard, Dale Philip, world nomac etc. We will see how it does. If not I'll pick up my drone again and go back to my old style.

Your taxi journey reminds me of one I had in Amman, Jordan last July. I was taken around the city and dropped off at a huge blue (I think it was) mosque where they tried to sell me the entire shop, then got taken to some dodgy, daytime, basement brothel. He tried to charge me about 12 times the price. Ended up having to do a runner when we stopped in a traffic jam!

Ive travelled to over 70 countries including 2 visits to Cairo. Cairo is one of the worst places you can go as a solo tourist. My last time (ever), a taxi driver tried to get more money from us half way through the trip and threatened to have us arrested. We had to get out in the middle of Cairo and find our way back to the hotel. There are hustlers everywhere! It’s really a shame, because the Egyptian museum and the Pyramids are awesome. Also, don’t even try eating raw vegetables because of the hygiene/water problems and aways brush your teeth with bottled water. Me and my buddy almost had to go the emergency room with the worst case of the sh*ts in human history. Good luck and stay vigilant!

One guy, his two, brothers, and a nephew almost exclusively for 17 years. The GF and I we going to dinner and to a very popular restaurant at that and he couldn't find it. She showed him her phone, we called the restaurant for him and he still couldn't find it. I told him to stop and we got out, asked him how much and he said 200 peso which would've be fine if he'd found it. I just said "Lo siento" and placed 100 pesos on the passengers seat. He knew and didn't say a work. So it'll be interesting to see where you end up next. Until then, suerte y salud!

Egyptian here - my advice to anyone wanting to see Egypt: it can be a great travel experience only if you know someone egyptian here who can help you and accompany you everywhere. It makes it a whole lot easier and a much better experience. Scammers and sellers tend to leave you alone when they see you have an egyptian with you cause they know they won't be able to scam you. It's sad and unfortunate but it's the truth.

I have read so much about the taxi drivers scamming tourists. Be careful my friend. I really liked the video tho

On my word that was a scary video. You can be too trusting William. Following a stranger up numerous stairs !!! Anything could have happened. Glad you are moving on to somewhere else. Stay safe and be careful.

That is not my idea of fun. I struck Egypt off my list because of the constant hassle of tourists a long time ago. Obviously there are good people there and the country is fascinating, but subjecting people to that ruins the experience for everyone.

Bro you should have bought a sim card with data.No one has a sense of direction there. People try to be helpful but give wrong directions. Mall of Arabia or Mall of Egypt would have had free wifi. Language barrier is definitely an issue. Cairo is poor chaos but most ppl mean well. The hustle is alive and well!

I visited Morocco yrs ago and it was similar with hustlers targeting tourists. I was never happier than when i got out of there. I wonder if other countries in northern africa are similar? Maybe the corrupting influence of the jesuits and the catolick church?
