In terms of album composition, the extra emphasis in this song on the phrase "Live and Learn!" is actually genius. Considering that this song opens the game and Live and Learn is the epic finale to the game's soundtrack it provides the whole experience with a kind of completeness. I like to think that Sonic is talking directly to the player in the song. When I was a kid playing this game for the first time, as soon as Sonic hit the street after falling out of that helicopter and started boarding down the street I was fully locked in.

@@madeofmars It really was. It very introduces you to the core of the game (go forward, go fast) while removing the ability to fail to go forward and limiting your ability to fail to go fast. Once you get off the board you have acclimated to basic direction + jump controls and are used to moving forward and fast, so you do so and all the rest comes naturally. Its really good, and a sneaky way to have a tutorial without ever acting like it is one.

Let's agree, this is without a doubt the best first level of a 3D Sonic game. Just the fact that it has this WONDERFULL music and this incredible level designer already makes it the best level in the game, the best first level of 3D Sonic games and maybe one of the best first stages of any video game ever!
