The fanbase is sleeping on Azerbaijan, and I think this could surprise people if they bring a strong staging and vocal. I really love their song and hope they advance to the Grand Final.

@@beadelino2707 it is a question of taste, I would totally fall asleep on something like Malta for example and wake up to this as it would grab my attention. Just like Portugal in 2017, he hypnotised me and I listened to everything he said even though I have no knowledge at all in Portuguese and end up voting for it. Something slower is not necessarily boring, it can stand out in the middle of all the pop songs.

@@joebloggs396 It hasn't reached the point of annoyance to me, so good for you if the Portuguese calms you down and not the Polish entry. Croatian entry annoys me, Norwegian entry is surprisingly calming for me. We have differences in perceiving songs, and that's why my first comment started with "I...".

I like everything about this song, don't understand how the fans are not liking this more from what I'm seeing. I get a bit of Sting vibe. (just heard your comment, yes Desert Rose totally :) )

It's one of my favorite songs and I think it's really underrated by fans. It reminds me of my trips to Istanbul and I love it. The main singer is 29 yo and the folk singer guy is 33 though. :D

The singing style is called mugham, and it is not a middle-eastern technique, but something specific to Azerbaijan. There is even a sub-type of Mugam called jazz-mugham. There are, however, similar singing styles that existed in Persian empire, and among uygurs and central Asian countries, such as Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

I like the featured artist more than the main artist. If it weren’t for him, the whole thing would read entirely generic pop - but he really adds something. I like it but I don’t love it. It’s a tough semi but with good staging and vocals I could see it sneaking through. It’s borderline at best though. Still, miles better than last year.
