    Hey Andrew! I have a question for you.... Do you still build planes from scratch? I am just about to try to build a proper wire cutter as I think depron wings are a bit limiting. But I've noticed that you don't seem to be building anymore. Is it that you just can't make the perfect plane and the manufactured ones do it better? I have a brandless 40A ESC. I connected my motor and ESC to a Speedybee F405 Wing flight controller. At first everything seemed fine but somehow I seemed to have messed up the ESC programming(?) When I arm the model and turn throttle on, it turns on. But even for a very low throttle, the moment I input a left aileron stick command, the motor stops spinning. I have triple checked all connections. It isn't an overcurrent issue either since I connected a Wattmeter and verified that the current draw is within ESC range (max current is 13 Amps). I can't think of anything else other than the ESC accidentally being wrongly programmed. I am running INAV 7.0 in my FC. Please do let me know if you have any idea why this might be happening. Thanks in advance.

  • @AndrewNewton

    @AndrewNewton

    4 ай бұрын

    Did you have differential thrust in the mixer? Unlikely to be the ESC, more likely the INAV setup or radio mixing

  • @prateekshrestha9824

    @prateekshrestha9824

    4 ай бұрын

    @@AndrewNewton SOLVED! It was INAV setup indeed. Apparently, I had set up channel 5 as channel 1's slave in my FlySky FS-i6X transmitter during direct manual flight using ESC directly connected to the battery. When I later connected the FC, I had assigned channel 5 in INAV to arm the model as well. That caused the FC to think that I was trying to disarm every time I gave a left aileron stick command because the bracket in the Arm channel in INAV mode for arming interfered with the aileron stick command. I simply had to assign arming to a different channel (I now have channel 6 for arming), and this mysterious throttle cut is now gone. But anyway, thanks for your reply. I enjoy watching your videos and learning from your experiences! :)

So same as with the transmitter I guess but that calibrates it to the inav top and bottom settings. Maidening the fx-61 tomorrow so I want it right.

    For gliders and belly landers it's essential. Folding props need to stop spinning to fold back, and a spinning prop creates more drag. Also for belly landers, a spinning prop has much greater change of breaking when it touches the ground.

    Following your example, I bought a programming card and now only buy Turnigy Plush. However, having just installed a 30amp one in a new glider, the prop absolutely refuses to stop spinning. I’ve programmed it twice, to 100%, I’ve even tried an increasing number of rubber bands. All to no avail. 🤬 Clearly, the esc is not braking the prop. Just a’wundrin’ if you have any suggestions. Until I fix this issue the glider is a duckling, as the torque from the feathering prop spin is tipping the model hard right!
