With the exception of Sweden (yes I'm in the minority who is pretty eh to Euphoria and thinks that it was too overrated), I love your top 10! I do think you were really harsh on Russia though. For me it deserved every single point that it got. They also sang in Udmurt, not just mainstream English throughout! And the lyrics isn't about cliche love songs as well. Anyway, I'm rambling, this is my top 10 of 2012: 10. Malta - really catchy and the vocals were great 9. Germany - simple yet emotional 8. Azerbaijan - love the addition of Azerbaijani mugham and her vocals... 7. Portugal - grand. Such a crime that it NQed 6. Turkey - ethnic & creativity at its finest! And I dig the vocals unlike some people 5. Russia - folk & modern, along with grannies baking cookies? Sign me up! 4. Bulgaria - amazing vocals, multilingual and I love the Roma/Gypsy influences 3. Estonia - Godlike vocals and emotions overload 2. Albania - very powerful song, lyrically, vocally and emotionally 1. North Macedonia - unique and flawless vocals, and contrary to what you said the rock influence actually made the song miles better for me

2012 was really a good year when it came to songs, i still remember nine year old me humming on a lot of the songs, i miss those good years

42. Oh, Georgia, my favourite ESC country... what did you do? 41. I actually like this, it's brace and it's not Valentina's best but it's still decent. 40. So cute! Guilty pleasure. 39. Yeah, it's awful, but I like it because it's so damn catchy and I love the instrumental. 38. Ew. 37. UKRAINE?! I am disgusted.... 36. She isn't a bad singer or anything but this does nothing for me. Boring. 35. My country, and I agree. Lipstick was FAR better. 34. It's not a bad chorus but I agree about the Indian thing. 33. I really like this SONG. The performance and vocals though... 32. I like it, it deserved a better place in ESC. 31. Forgettable. 30. LEGENDARY. It's terrible... but so so good😂 29. It gets annoying, but it can be quite catchy and entertaining. 28. Generic. And I SEE AMBER!! 27. The singer is actually pretty good, and it's a cute song and I love that it's mainly in Spanish. 26. ABSOLUTELY ROBBED IN ESC! Deserved top 10, her vocals are excellent and the song is great. 25. I like it, I don't like that It robbed Sofi, but I enjoy it. 24. The vocals aren't great, but she was sick. It's still amazing. 23. One of portugal's better entries, not as good as 2008 or 2014. 22. I like both versions a LOT, but the rock was way better. 21. Maybe my favourite this year, I really like it and it was super memorable. 20. QUEEN! I loved the rock influence, and her vocals are AMAZING. 19. Maybe my favourite Lithuanian entry, or second to 2015. 18. Beautiful! Should've qualified :( 17. Memorable and solid. Good song. 16. I really like this- and she was so young too! Super memorable ballad. 15. I LOVE THIS. This is a Marmite song, and I love it. She has the most beautiful voice. 14. I love this, it's so fun but yet Ethnic. 13. My favourite Italian entry. I LOVE this. 12. Englebert had amazing vocals and is so talented. For once my other country sent a good song. Underrated! The chorus is beautiful. 11. Insane vocals. Deserved higher in ESC.. 10. It's good, I won't deny that. But it's such a rip off of the amazing Helena and Kalomoira. 9. I LOVE THIS. It's literally my favourite song to sing when I'm home alone😂 8. Meh. 7. YESSS! One of my favourite entries ever. It's so catchy and different! 6. Germany deserved this place. It was amazing and yeah, I agree, really like the Fray! 5. Just beautiful. 4. TuUUUNE. Not turkey's best but damn good and damn entertaining. 3. Zeljko is a living legend. One of the most beautiful Balkan ballads ever. 2. Insane- how did this only come 20th?! Underrated! 1. THIS stood out. Deserved winner. All in all, this year was strong af. Almost 2010 level strong. But euphoria was the very best, that no one ever was.

Oh dear, this might be the year, whereI disagree the most with you... . 01st - Estonia - Powerful ballad, powerful singer, beautiful language... . I don't want more - 10/10 02nd - Bosnia & Herzegovina - Also powerful, amazing climax, astonishing beuatiful performance - 10/10 03rd - Serbia - He is a pure genius, everything is just perfect - 10/10 04th - Iceland - Criminally underrated, absolutley the best duet in 2012, would've preferred it in Icelandic - 9,5/10 05th - Portugal - Insanely great ballad with a lovely Portuguese touch, criminally underrated - 9,5/10 06th - Finland - Smooth ballad, sweet lyrics, which even elevate the song, perfect - 9,5/10 07th - Italy - I have no idea why she sang in English when Italian is such a great language - 9/10 08th - Macedonia - Ballad meets rock, impressive combination, out of the world voice - 9/10 09th - Spain - I love Pastora, I love the Spanish language, I love her voice - 9/10 10th - Switzerland - Why the hell didn't this qualify? Austria's act was called Trackshittaz. They definitely shat on that track.

My Top 10 for 2012: 12 points - Sweden: Obvious choice. 10 points - Macedonia - Loaded with fire! 8 points - Iceland - Absolutely lovely and definitely deserved higher than 20th. I agree. 7 points - Spain - Blows you away. Deserves higher than tenth. 6 points - Serbia - Zeljko does it again with a song delivering the best qualities of a 'Balkan Ballad.' 5 points - Italy - I've never been disappointed by Italy at the ESC. I like the sass of this number. 4 points - Bosnia-Hercegovina - Another under recognized beauty of a song. 3 points - Russia - C'mon. Ya gotta love the Russian grannies! They were sweet. 2 points - Cyprus - Makes a perfect summer song. 1 points - France - I ranked it high because of its energy. Of Interest: I liked Austria. It was so awful, I had to love it!

So many great songs his year Moldova, Azerbaijan, Macedonia, Albania, Italy, Turkey (I know I’m biased haha), Spain (oh Spain), even Cyprus, Germany, Iceland, and yes ofc Sweden. If I had to make a top 10 list it’d go like this: 1/2. Spain/Macedonia (I can’t pick sorry) 3.Azerbaijan(just as good) 4. Italy 5. Moldova 6. Albania 7. Turkey 8. Sweden 9. Iceland 10. Cyprus

Georgia and Montenegro's songs are definitely one of my biggest guilty pleasures from Eurovision. Overall, I pretty much agree with a lot of things that you said, but one of your comments that I really don't agree with is about Macedonian entry, I think without rock influences it would be worse, maybe not a lot, but worse. It's in my top 10 now. And I like UK's song too, which is rare :D I wouldn't have put Turkey in the 4th place, but I do think it's a very nice song , too. I just saw your top 10 and I don't know if I agree with that, maybe just because I'm not usually a fan of ballads. but your top 5 is very good! I think 2012 wasn't a really good year in Eurovision, though.

I don't know, could be the style of it that just doesn't appeal to my personal preference, but it sounded kind of muddy and messy to me and I'm happy to hear that we're on the same page for majority of the songs :) Montenegro is definitely one of my biggest guilty pleasures ever, it's too damn funny! Georgia though, hahahha, not for me :)

Even I think Loreen was perfect but my actual #1 was Serbia, #2 Sweden, #3 Estonia and #4 Turkey. All 4 were beautiful. :) Yes I did bias and I knew Lane Moje was better but I like his works a lot.

+DJ Buldogg a chorus is basically the "refrain" (if you're familiar with that word) the chorus is most often the most memorable part of a song, quite often these are the most catchy parts of songs as well... if I take "Euphoria" as an example, the part of the song where the lyric goes "Euphoria, forever to the end of time. From now on only you and I. We're going up-up-up-up-up-up" is the chorus

If a song is "funny" or "absurd" it's automatically bad in your opinion? Also, I didn't appreciate locating the 2015 French entry the third last: I admit that on stage, Lisa sang slowly and heavily and the ending was remade in an awful way but it would STILL deserve a placing within the top20! Obviously you never study what the lyrics mean if they're sung in other languages besides English.

Good examples of this is Belarus 2014, Greece 2013, Spain 2010 and France 2010 the thing is though, that in my opinion, they have to be catchy in the right way, as well as have some serious thought in them (either a good vocalist, a memorable staging, the right amount of energy etc.) 2012 was definitely a year that had funny songs, but none of them included any serious thoughts... Russia was a trainwreck at everything, it sounded terrible, the staging was dumb (in my opinion), and it was awkward for me to look at San Marino was just annoying in every way for me, if a song makes me laugh at how bad it is, I can't possibly look at it and say "that was a good entry", maybe I'd say it's memorable, but certainly not good Austria was literally a song about someone shaking their butt... dry beat, dumb lyrics, terrible staging and poor vocals... not a big fan of it As for the 2015 video and the deal with France... I honestly couldn't care less if the lyrics were the most beautiful ones ever written when you place them on such a terrible instrumental... NOTHING happens in that song, they add some drums on the end, but the rest is just a bunch of melodramatic string- and pianowork mashed together to sound emotional... I've heard a lot of meaningful songs throughout the years, but the french entry just seemed so very fake to me, nothing felt real about that song, it mostly felt like France wanted to send something classy (like they did in 2009) so they could reach the fine, classy people watching Eurovision... but there was nothing in that entry that grasped people from that audience... it felt too polished, and it felt too much like an attempt of trying to make something captivating and meaningful... but it just didn't work Please remember that these are all my thoughts, it's completely fine if you have another take on these pointers... that's what makes Eurovision interesting, just because these songs were nothing to me doesn't restrict anyone else from liking them

Here's what I like and dislike for this year. I dislike: Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Switzerland, Ukraine and United Kingdom. Meaning that I like: Azerbaijan, Belarus, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Italy, Macedonia, Moldova, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Turkey. So, I like 17 out of 42 songs. I personally feel that this year is overrated. Considering I like less than half of the songs, I'm not a fan of this year. Despite that, all the songs that I do like are very memorable to me.
