I actually was his neighbour when he lived in Portugal, I was around 7 and he worked with my dad as a spokesman for his winery

Cliff had not a bad voice for a pop singer.

I was draged kicking and screaming to one of his concerts. It was one of the best I have,been to

OK I just watched Cliff dancing, after I read that "high five" comment...I literally laughed out loud. My laugh for the day. ;)

This is one of Cliff Richards' best ever songs. I can remember hearing it on the radio way back in 1973.

I remember voting for this in the 'Song For Europe''.I was 7 and i remember asking my date to write out a postcard to send in my vote.

I feel the whole event is ridiculous and England should just sit it out due to self respect. It’s rigged, it’s over the top, and a lot of the songs just don’t make sense. Especially when non English Europeans feel the need to sing in English but the translation gets wonky. Personally, I love Poland and their language but their pop music, I take a pass. After I giggle.

Cliff is a person that it's easy to knock but you shouldn't.

A well underated song, This is the first Eurovision I remember watching and couldn’t wait to See the Great Cliff belting out this classic and I was only seven.

I was only 9 years old the first time I heard this song,1973. One of your best songs 💗.

He was my teen-age crush until I red his religious mumble jumble books :D. Now listening him I smile and think he is not that great singer. He was cute but just okay singer not more. Glad I found E.L.O. and Queen later.

It is a beautiful song but he had the bad luck to stumble upon one of the best songs that have passed through Eurovision which is eres tú from Mocedades Spain

Even though i'm not a fan of his, i always loved this song!

was 3rd year college at that time.. that year , there were four of the entry songs that I liked..

Cliff's moves in the first chorus at 0:50 are monumental, and the look of approval from the musician to the immediate right of the drummer confirm this. Nice one Cliff, you should have won this, but you was robbed!

In fairness it's probably his moves that robbed him! Easily the best song.

Interesting to see John Farrar on lead guitar and Alan Tarney on bass. John of course was part of Marvin Welch and Farrar and went on to write Heathcliffe along with Tim Rice for Cliff. Alan Tarney played bass with the Shadows the following year in their Eurovision song Let Me Be the One. Then Alan wrote and produced some great tracks for Cliff in the late 70’s.

Canción espectacular y digna de victoria, todo un himno a la amistad. Tema alucinante, lleno de fuerza, sentimiento, ritmo, pureza y verdad. Cliff Richard hace una increíble actuación, aquí está tan deslumbrante! Su tercera posición con 123 puntos no le hace justicia. Fue un gran error. Siempre me ha parecido muy superior a Congratulations. Doy 12 Puntos.

@@roybeckerman9253 And for the previous couple of years to this he had been in Marvin, Welch & Farrar with Hank and Bruce when The Shadows were on hiatus. He joined the lineup of the reconvened Shadows later in 1973 along with Alan Tarney on bass.

Cliff does POWER TO THE PEOPLE! This song is clearly inspired by and is cashing in on the mood tapped by, and the 'oompah' style of, The Strawbs' pro-trade union Part of the Union which was No.1 in the UK in Jan 1973, 3 months previously.

We got no votes but most Irish people I know were flabbergasted when they said no points and most Spanish people felt the same 🥂

Sir Cliff didn't have a record deal here in '73; Sire Records in the US picked up the EMI recording and it was a modest hit; pretty good for a Eurovision song. They just don't do well over here, which is kind of silly. This I have on a 45.

"Power To All Our Friends", has a hippy feel, extolling the virtues of the simple life like "living off the land". Cliff segues confidently between soft, earnest verses and a brassy, rocking chorus. "Power to the bees" he exhorts and who can argue with that?

Congratulations came 2nd but it sold over 4 million records and was No 1 in 5 European counties, the song that won in 1968 ' La La La'' sold about 10,000 copies and wasn't even a hit in it's own country
