I have never seen such a great team Scarpia. What a dynamic! It is a joy to watch. And you can watch it repeatedly and still discover new (brilliant) details. This interpretation and the acting seems so natural. Subtle but strong. Very strong. With talent like this, it is clear that Scarpia needs no exaggerated and artificial drama. The characters and the music are so rich to begin with! In this production you feel that all the characters have agency, they have a reason to be here and they are humans for better or for worse. The relation between them is hinted at with such finesse, they are not just here to serve in Tosca’s story, they each have their own. Separately and together, all of them delivers on every parameter. Still, Erwin Schrott shines through with both his voice and acting - which merges so beautifully that they seem like one. Bravo! Bravi! I wonder if the stage design is a homage to the play. Sardou had Scarpia’s living in Castel Sant’Angelo, after all… bold decision with the cages, but they work surprisingly well. To be honest, I think you could place these artists in an empty box and they would still spin the purest gold. I think I have a box around here somewhere… if only I could fit them into it. Thank you for your powerful performance and for the video, which is (I suspect, in more than one way) a testament to the first.

I'm not sure what your talking about. Ludmila is a beautiful woman and she can sing him out of the scene but, while she gave her best, she's not at his level as an actress. I really hope you're talking about her acting.
