like i mentioned in the last video ya did of the Boss Hogg's Car i am a Big The Dukes of Hazzard fan ! and i have some More Fun Facts for you about these lovley General Lee's From Ertl ! 1) 1981 molds of the General lee were more Detailed ! you can see there are Gooves in the back pannel for the tail lights ! in later 1997 Molds are less detailed and the Gooves in the back pannel for the tail lights are filled in ! thus you do not get to see the tail light pannel /grooves in later Molds ! another Key Differnce is that the 1981 molds of the General lee had rounded tube shaped Mufflers and the later 1997 Molds had the Block Mufflers on the underside Detail ! the reason for this was that the rounded tube shaped Mufflers were on a lot of the Stunt General lees for the skiing the stunt cars ! while the Block Mufflers were on the Hero car aka not stunt used ! other changes to stunt and hero was that the Engine used on the Hero car was a 440 Engine while the Stunt Cars used the 383 Engeine and it is also said that some Hero cars also used a V8 Hemi engine as well ! as seen later in the 2005 and 2007 Dukes of hazzard movies . 2) the first wave of ERTL 1981 molds of the General lee had white lettering General lee decal and black interior ! the later relases of the 1997 mold had verious changes from Black lettering General lee decal and Black interior to more of a fawn colored intrior and later had the blue and white edged lettering General lee decal . 3) the 01 Decals ! on all the sizes of the ERTL General Lee's 1:64 ( like the one's worked on the video ) 1:25 and the 1:18 scale General Lee 01's all seemed to be Block and scrunched together ! now the reason for the thicker 01's is because during fliming the season the Crew moved to a new location and so the Decals on the General lee also Changed ! they filmed in Gorgia and then moved to California to shoot the show ! swapping between locations sometimes also ! the thicker 01 was from the Original Gorgia General lee while the thiner 01 Decals were from the GL's in California ! but most ERTL models have the the thicker 01 that was from the Original Gorgia General lee ! lol but there was one Funny occasion i found a Digital 01's Decal in the ERTL Model kit ! Oopse ! anyways there is sappost to be a space between the 01's like 0 1 space between them but i belive why the ERTL Company had a more Squashed together 01's Decal was because of the picture's Given to them ! some pics of the General lee on an Angle looks like the 01's are close together ! like this "01" but in reality there was a small gap in between the 01's like this " 0 1 " Ooops ! :)

back in the 80's Ertl had those General Lees churned out at several factories. it appears the molds from China survived, as they were reused in the 90's when there was a Dukes resurgence. in the later years of the Resurgence. the Generals (1:64 scale) gained more detailing on the lettering, and the interior plastic went from black to tan.

bro i love you
I had a few of these and a couple of the "Bandit" trans am's. I always liked the Ertl for their flexible axles. When you were a kid and performing a slow motion jump with the one of these cars and the wheels go deep into the fender wells on landing like on tv.( Ok, I'm 47 and still do slow motion jumps when no one is looking)

Great comment. The suspension was a huge selling point for me as well. The jumps as you mentioned looked so cool as the cars crashed to the track. Plus when racing them the "bounce" they had was awesome. I liked some Lesney and Matchbox for the same reasons. I still collect to this day. 50+ yrs old and I still love my cars. Sadly my health has caused my hunting trips to end. But these cars are, have been, and will continue to be a big part of me and my life.

Beautiful work!#2 is my favorite.
Great restoration job!.. Love the jumps at the end with the diecast replacement.
One of my favorite shows as a kid & I really appreciate you tackling this one. I think it's a really cool design & that you did a great job with those decals.
Excellent restoration of my all time favourite car, the General Lee.
People like you are the that keep my childhood alive
Great work, they look amazing restored to their former glory, I too used to love watching those programmes as a very young girl, you didn’t mention Street Hawk, Airwolf and of course McGuyver, also staple viewing of the 1980’s, happy childhood memories!
The sequence of photos at the end were the perfect touch... you must have had a loot of fun putting those together!
I grew up in southern California, and I had to drive to work on an elevated highway. Just off the highway, There was a lot, surrounded by a privacy fence, with 30 to 40 "General Lee's" that they had used while filming the TV series. Cheers
Very nice restorations. Both cars ow looks beautiful.
Absolutely fantastic restoration and video as always excellent work
Those 'General Lee' cars have been restored, you could say, *generally* well. :) I'll get my coat.

I still have my general lee from that set. I want to restore it so this helps a lot. Thanks for the vid.
I’ve been watching your videos and it has been a trip down memory lane for me. I gave my extensive collection of Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars to my nephew many years ago. I had quite a few of the older cars and trucks from the 80s and earlier, the benefits of older brothers. Your work is stellar and your presentation is top notch!
Nice restoration of the old General Lee, well done! I love seeing these old beat up cars given new life again!....Bill
So glad to see this, I restored a Marui big bear in general lee theme on my rc channel. Just awesome car and a legend. 🤙
Excellent work Danny.
Very well done. I admire your skills with the fast set putty.
Nice video man 😎👍 one of the best shows back in the day, the General is one of the cars i lost as a kid that still eats me up...
They both look great and look like the original car. Thanks for this tutorial.
I'm always in when I see the General, it is my favorite TV car of all time. They both look great.
Great result on these average to start with cars! I really enjoy, appreciate, wow, how many you get thru, cheers.
I lost track of how many of these General Lee's I had as a kid. Like the cars used in the show these Ertl, cars didn't land well!! Those shell type wheels would always crack!

I bet there is a hundred of these cars buried in the back yard of our old house. My biggest gripe was the cheap ass wheels. I broke a couple just on the first jump.
Them Duke Boys would be very happy with these restored Generals! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
YEEEEEE-HAAAAH! Them Duke Boys would be proud of your work Danny.
Great job on both Danny. Love the ending !!!
I like the yellowed windows on the one car. They don't look bad, they actually look like they are tinted. Good job an both cars.
Great job on the G-Lees!!!
Cars look really nice Danny. Loved your action shots at the end.🙂
You do great Work Danny! Awesome attention to detail! I've shared your channel a few times on social media hopefully that'll get you some more attention.
Coo, coo, coo, I got ya now Duke boys! Awesome rebuild Danny. I had all the Dukes cars growing up & my fav was The General Lee, my brother & I had several because, it was such an iconic car even way back then. Thanks for the Vid.
Fantastic restorations as always Danny and I loved the glamour shots at the end of the video. Thanks for the shout out mate.

Great work Danny Brian Thailand
One of my favourites as I have one of these myself that needs restoration in not as bad condition
Excellent work, just 2 very small problems I see, that I hope you can change. 1st, the front push bar, it should have been painted black. 2nd, the rear taillight section, that also should have been painted black. I think once that has been accomplished, that little general lee will shine.

very nice
Great work Danny, these Ertls always look very low budget in construction. The one with the warped base looks like it was removed from it's mold too soon in the factory but they still used it as the holes lined up XD
1977 Pontiac Bandit Edition Trans Am, wld b so cool to have.
As usual Ertl has done their not do best on the reproduction of these cars. I have had a couple of these myself and honestly I don't remember them being that bad. But as usualy you have done a fine job fixing these up. I am surprised you didn't take one of them and customize it. The second one was the best looking as far as the chassis was concerned. And yes those new wheels looked excellent. But the way the two halves mated together... I love your attention to detail on the decals. I don't know if I would havs ghe patience to cut all of those fine details! Hats off to you!
