1 thing: news reporters don't 'up their stock' by not creating controversy/ criticizing whether it's valid or not. It's bullshit sometimes, sometimes it's legitimate, but that's the name of their game. All in all controversy is good for sports, it's creates drama, event, and motivation. From the athlete's stand point it's bullshit more times than not.
