Ernie Ball: String Theory with Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance

Музыка

"The world has everybody else. It doesn't make sense to pretend to be someone else. We have that already. The only thing that we don't have is you and how weird you are inherently. That's the good shit the stuff that makes you a little bit broken or a little bit off-kilter, a little bit strange, a little bit awkward and uncomfortable in your own skin. That's the best part. That's why people are so amazing and so interesting, not because they all look the same. Be a little bit ugly. I find beauty in it." In this episode of String Theory, we speak with Frank Iero about his history with My Chemical Romance, touring the world, discovering who he was as a musician, his inspirations, and more.
String Theory is a web series from Ernie Ball that explores the sonic origins of some of music's most innovative players.
Frank Iero relies on Ernie Ball Burly Slinky electric guitar strings. You can find them here: ernieb.al/BurlySlinky

All the guys’ solo projects really showed MCR dissected. It’s so interesting. Gerard’s storytelling, Frank’s raw emotions, Ray’s technical perfection and Mikey’s catchy rhythms. I hope their time off from each other has re-inspired them and strengthened their individual qualities. If that’s the case the next record is going to be one for the history books.

So that's what happened to the guitar with the kids' initials on the back. Had noticed we hadn't seen it in a while. Also noticed that we didn't get to see some of his more recent acquisitions. That's a shame; there are some beautiful pieces in his collection. But the stories of building a band and how he used which instrument was always nice to hear...well, maybe not misusing, but everyone has bad days. Thank you for the interview. I enjoyed the sound.

So I have a weird history with My Chem. When I was an early teen, I thought that they were a band that posers in the scene for harder music listened to (admittedly, my favorite two bands at the time were like Slipknot and Metallica so all insults to teenage me welcome). Then I got older and very much started to appreciate what they were doing, irregardless of how I perceived their listeners (the people I knew who were their fans really stopped listening to them after freshman year of hs). After watching this video, I can really appreciate what this man put into his music.
