With the notable exception of a StingRay 5 BFR (Ball Family Reserve) scheduled for release later in 2024, Ernie Ball Music Man focused on upgrading its always stunning color palette for DarkRay and StingRay basses.
The DarkRay line-which includes a versatile preamp by Darkglass Electronics (2-band EQ, plus onboard distortion and fuzz effects)-will strut Dark Rainbow and Gold Bar finishes. You can go to the dark or stay in the light with these new DarkRay colors, as the Dark Rainbow evokes a mysterious alien galaxy, while the Gold Bar is as warm and bright as a beach day on the Costa Del Sol.
The iconic StingRay basses will get dressed up in 12 new finish options, including eye-catching hues such as Candyman, Grape Crush, Genius Gold, Hot Honey, Kiwi Green and Ocean Sparkle. It’s like diving into Candy Crush for bassists.

Matching headstocks all the way but I’ll forgive a non matching one maple because that’s what I currently own. That gold Darkray 5 though 👌🏼
I have a Burnt Apple 4H Special Ash on Maple and I wish it had black hardware… wish there was a way to order some!
