Ernest Satow's

The very first part of the handwritten diary of Sir Ernest Satow (1843-1929) which he kept until the end of 1926, though not every day. Transcribed and annotated by Professor Robert Morton. Read by Ian Ruxton. The original diaries are held at the National Archives of the UK as part of the Satow Papers (PRO 30/33).
Robert Morton comments on the Shanghai diaries: “ I think they're the most fun part of his output (not the most consequential but still essential for historians).”
