Ernest Borgnine Finds a Dairy Queen

Well, actually it wasn't a Dairy Queen, but it did just fine.

My neighbor was in college and worked as a parking valet in Beverly Hills. Ernest Borgnine was a regular patron of the restaurant my neighbor parked cars. He said Ernest Borgnine always encouraged him to finish school and was a great tipper. When My friend told him he was graduating a couple years later. Ernest Borgnine gave him $200.00 dollars before he went into his car and whispered "I'm proud of you." The day my neighbor found out Ernest Borgnine died, his wife told me he cried. Class act Ernie.

I met Mr Borgnine at a gas station in Victorville CA back in the 90's, he was very nice and very down to earth. I asked him where he was headed and he said "Las Vegas for the weekend". @yura beech Sean Penn is nowhere near as talented as Ernest Borgnine. E. Borgnine wasn't only a major talent, but a genuinely kind person. Neither can be said about Sean Penn. Sean Penn has shown many times how much he hates America. America, and the rest of the world for that matter would be a better place without him.

@@kikayei yes, he was part of a gang of outlaws that included Warren Oates, William Holden and 2 other actors who I can't recall. It takes place in Revolutionary ere Mexico, around 1916 and the gang hijacks a US Army train loaded with weapons and they sell them to the Mexicans. It's also about how the Wild West is over and these guys were part of that era. It's a good movie but very violent, directed by Sam Peckinpah

My family were RVers when I was in high school. Ernest Borgnine reminds me of my father so much. This was our life, and he was just like that. Everywhere we went, he was meeting and talking to the people we encountered.

Mine too. After my father retired, he also made several solo RV trips across country. My father also loved to play characters in the community theater. Earnest reminds me of him so much! My dad also loved Earnest. Losing Earnest was like losing my father all over again. Especially after watching this channel.

Some of the characteristics that most of today's ”celebrities” will never possess…” likability” and being ”just one of the guys”. Ernest had those traits in spades. I guess that there are things that you can not learn in acting school.

If one word could be used to describe this man’s beautiful soul, my choice would be “VITAL”! Such an exemplary life of empathy for his fellow man and his role in every life situation. Caring and willing to serve OTHERS. He was certainly richly blessed by God with such a full life for the love, laughter, and goodness he shared with all of us. If there ever was a picture of love, HE WAS!
