Hype, hyped hype. Its Brock's signature gesture and Sensei Paulson makes a good point and has a ton of great things to say in this interview. I find inappropriate jokes funny too. No one is a saint. It's like "I'm not trying to prove anything to you, or submit to your claim, i am simply trying to relate to you." Erik is one of the great pioneers in present day sport driven mixed martial arts. Not to forget, he studied under Guro Dan inosanto, the most humble, compassionate little guy you'll ever meet. Instead of bashing people, try and find something useful in what they say. People talk like they know MMA, but don't understand the usefulness of an empty cup.

@Super8astard I agree to some extent. If you ever have the chance go train at a CSW Erik Paulson gym. The one I went to in Jacksonville Fl, taught a lot of history and I guess what you can call fighters etiquette. He actually teaches MMA for fighting but he normally pushes in a lot of culture too.

Great interview. Nice to hear Erik talk about his background. And I mean, Erik is Brock's trainer, he's not his dad. He can't be held responsible for everything Brock does. + if there is anything I hate about american MMA-fans, it's the God damn booing going on all the damn time, THAT is disrespect. If you boo a guy, just because he beats up the fighter you had put money on, then you're an idiot who deserves a big, fat long finger in your face.

@trepidation11 I'm sure he runs a tight gym. I actually like those types of gyms because of the atmosphere and there tends to be less egotistical douchebag types. only exception is the 10th planet gyms people are really cool there too.

you guys are being very naive here if you actually buy any of these stories. Brock and Mir were trying to hype the fight by following UFC's script. in reality both these guys are pretty decent. but when they sell out and act out such poor manners it reflects negatively on the sport. Do you think someone like Couture or Fedor would sell out their sport and their integrity like this?

Josh Barnett just needs to stay in Pro Wrestling because thats the only place where he can use steroids and not bankrupt an organization.

@bassreeves1965 I dont think he would lose or at least get knocked out. Fedor often finds himself at the mercy of grappling. Fedor tries so hard to just use his boxing mostly and sometimes kicks and will throw a guy down just try and hit hard and as much as he can. Erik has a great standing/striking game but he mostly uses grappling. He has a huge range of moves, assess the situation and makes plans. Both have a decent sense of timing and accuracy. Fedor will use strength more n Erik strategy mo

guess you are unaware barnett is banned from the ufc so he's being a double agent for a fight that will never happen unless brock leaves or zuffa sales the ufc. conspiracy theories are fun though aren't they.

lol a nice guy does not consistently act like an ass and then have to apologize for it. he behaves like a decent civilized human being to start with. brock might be the best fighter in the UFC, but isn't close to the best on the planet. that's TUF noob talk right there.

  • @Nerstow

softest interviews ever dude. erik goes on and on about fighters not having manners or a bushido code and how its the coaches fault, then you just ask his thoughts of the brock situation and don't hammer him at all for his hypocrisy when its so wide open. only other interview i've seen of yours was the prison fighter fraud and you didn't ask any legit questions to him either. why are you doing interviews if you are afraid of the subjects and wont ask anything "confrontational"?

lol true Erik is most notable for training a career steroid abuser known for his consistently crabby and insulting attitude, and a dude who epitomizezs everything Erik claimed is wrong with current fighters, basically a walking roid rage. it's all those other coaches faults for not instilling respect and bushido in their fighters! but brock can flip off the fans cause they boo him, and i was kinda laughin hehe, dont question it fight nerd cause you're scared.
