Hey man I'm sure he tunes it somehow but most of the tone comes from his hands. They he hits it, they experience and energy from his heart. If you tune your snare exactly like his you're not going to sound like him at all.

Eric, your playing is brilliant...but in this video the video and the audio aren't lining up. Check out the side stick at the beginning; the audio's out of sync. Not only can you shred like nobody's business, but you can be a Taste Merchant, as well.
