The most important point made in this video that no one seems to hear is that concussions don’t just occur on head shots. You can get hit in the stomach or chest and still can get a concussion. Yet everyone just focuses on headshots.

Headshots are more directly related to concussions bodey shots less likly to cause but still a good point

I wish my parents and coaches pulled me out to have me evaluated and properly treated. I have had 6 concussions, 5 from hockey. And have developed a permanent stutter after by 5th one. Concussions are serious, I now do not sleep very well, and have mood swings very often. It’s extremely important to take any possible concussion, seriously,

Hey man, sorry to hear about the problems you're having due to concussions. I don't know if this will help for sure, and lots of people will probably scoff at this, but I'd feel guilty if I read this comment of yours and said nothing. Try looking into water fasting. It's probably the best thing people can do to recover from injuries of all kinds. I haven't looked into it myself for concussions, but there might be some information available. Even if there isn't, it's worth looking into. There's a good chance you can make a full recovery. Good luck.

Hey man same here I was the little guy on the ice and always was a target ( late bloomer as well in contact leagues) I can’t remember the amount but I have had at least 3 bad ones that I was out cold and don’t remember days before and after the hit. All three hits I’m told I had my head down but never remembered doing so. I still played heavy hockey up until 17-18 and luckily I became stronger but my brain i still feel I have issues from the early days of my hockey career. ( I was never great but I wasn’t bad either )

It’s a serious issue, they can really mess a person up and change someone’s personality.

Eric woulda had a longer/more productive career the way the rules are enforced now.

MIckey Redmond made a great point about the fact that if boarding and interference were really enforced we would not have as many concussions. I think the NHL is starting to do that now. When Lindros was playing he made some amazing open ice hits but also hit opponents heavily against the boards which now would be called for boarding.

There’s no in between on this matter! You either allow hitting in the game, or you remove it(PERIOD) and I played hockey from the age of 4 to junior major and honestly I have no idea how many concussions I had. I’m 46 and I won the peewee tournament in Quebec for the verdin Lasalle jr canadiens ! Best thing at the age of 14 that I have ever experienced in my life, and we hit a lot in peewee AA. and looking back I wouldn’t have changed a thing! hockey made me the person I am today and the memories I have from playing hockey are irreplaceable. you can’t predict or prevent your fate in life so enjoy it while you can! you can’t live life being afraid of the future!👍🏻🏒🥅🇨🇦

It astounds me how many people decided it was a good idea to try to go from their right to left across the middle in the Devil's defensive zone. That's a bad enough decision on it's own, but then they decided to do so with their head down half the time. It's insane. You have to know what's coming

@@bigbear8832 you only were used in one game. Stevens has an entire career... And consciousness. I'd say he won the war even if you won that battle.

Any hit which makes you feel even a little dizzy is a Concussion.

Watched the whole interview and felt the host wasn't listening to Eric at all. That last question was a slap in the face.

This is so good I got sucker punched on the weekend and thrown to the ice and I was under concussion protocol

He actually was originally selected to talk about officiating but he refused so he was traded to the concussion discussion...

There's actually more concussions in women's hockey then men's hockey. So removing hitting doesn't lead to less head injuries as suggested here.

Liam Middleton and there’s evidence that women are more susceptible to concussions across multiple sports. The variance is wide enough to be more than just unreported concussions for men. It’s also harder for men in hockey to get away with not reporting head injuries than its ever been with concussion spotters at the professional level. Everyone is much more aware and paying attention to the issue now.

If we still had real enforces that could do there jobs properly head shots would be down by alot just ask the star players who had them fines and suspensions later on dont stop any thing in the moment the way a possibility of a K.O in the now does

Lindros should have learned to stick handle with his head up when he was in Pee-Wee, like everyone else, but because he was so big, he could still look down at the puck, and steamroll anyone that tried to get in his way. Instead of trying to be his agent at age 12, maybe his parents should have taught him to keep his head up.

Some truth to that. But there is some truth to eliminating some or the big hits that we saw 25 years ago that were pretty borderline dirty. I love seeing the big hits, but not at the expense of some players health.

He did skate with his head down but he also was big-time targeted and head-hunted
