I'm not usually interested in signature guitars generally, but I am interested when that signature guitar can offer something that other guitars won't. A hollowbody Strat is an idea that I find really cool

Same I'm getting a strat in a few months and I want a thinline body with the same design as my guitar but idk how to get it. Hollowbodies are good if you're with your guitar and don't have an amp

MynxLynx You can also get a guitar without the trem system. It makes it resonate a lot and have a lot of sustain

When you heard the clean tones and the way he play.. even when you are not looking into the screen..suddenly u know there was Eric Johnson.. Remarkable sounds ..

I saw E.J open for Satriani years ago. Never heard of E.J. It was a transcendent experience. His tone, solos, voice, songs, everything were sublime. He played "Spanish Castle Magic" by Jimi Hendrix.

Eric Johnson has been my go to for serious sounds since he was a kid. I first heard him play in 74 and was mesmerized. All these years later, I'm still floored at the tone and sound he creates with that Strat. He's truly one of a kind.

A guitar that inhales and exhales in harmony with those that embrace it... sonic perfection

Great video, Fender. Thank you , Eric, for your time. Wished you'd played this guitar during your show at the Dallas International Guitar Festival on May 5, 2018...

Eric Johnson was and always will be amazing.

Superb tone from one of the greatest (and humble) guitar player alive.

Always amazing to hear Eric play the guitar.My biggest "what the f**k" moment was hearing the Guitar Player magazine 86 soundpage with Eric Johnson-Cliffs of Dover.The new signature model looks really cool imo.

jari56ify I all honesty, Guitar Hero was great for the guitar community. It actually inspired many young people to start playing real guitar as well as introducing them to music that wasn’t in the current mainstream pop radio rotation. I bought my oldest son Guitar Hero 3 for his birthday when it first came out because he was an avid gamer. He didn’t ask for the game and my wife was mad at me for buying him the game even though I did get him exactly what he wanted too. He loved the game so much that he ended up asking for a real guitar for Christmas that year and he still plays guitar (better me I’ll add) and it also got both of his younger sisters into playing guitar. I think the game and my purchasing it did a great thing for my family.

I could hear Eric play his clean tone for days straight. Fantastic how he gets these tones to ring out like no other guitar player on this planet. Eric, you are a legend and one of a kind. So when will the clean tone fiddling around cd be out ? :-)

When Fender first announced this guitar, I knew I had to get one, so I called my dealer (Mark's Guitar Exchange--San Diego) and he got me the first one commercially available (Serial #41) on February 23, 2018, just three days after this posted. Is the guitar fantastic? I have never heard such tonal quality in any guitar, and I own a few. I try to give equal time to playing all my guitars, but I always end up spending more time on this. I am going down to San Diego today to pick up the 2018 Fender Custom Shop Eric Clapton Limited Edition Strat that I ordered when it was first announced, and also a 2017 Limited Edition Honduran Mahogany Telecaster ordered many, many months ago. I will be curious to see the differences. Back to the Eric Johnson Strat--if you want a fantastic guitar, do not hesitate for one second in buying this. You will not be disappointed. Cheers!

I bought one. Arrived with a good set up. Feels nice to play and sounds very good. I have a blues jnr and a blackstar 5HTR it sounds excellent through the BJnr and good through the Blackstar. I thought I'd receive the Johnson talent in the case but I am still waiting. Guess they'll send it later...

My favourite guitar player is Robin Trower from the mid 1970’s

Not often I see and hear a guitar and something goes off inside and I just want that beautifull thing. I want that guitar. The sound is just about the most beautiful sounding electric guitar I have ever heard. It makes you thing... Why the hell didn't anybody think of that before, A semi Hollow Strat. DUH !!!

I’d really like to see a cross cut of this strat to see how much of the top is carved out...unless it’s a corporate secret. I’m sure this will do well since it’s Eric Johnson’s signature guitar. Very cool guitar.

Give this man a Ukulele and still , he will make it sound like his signature instrument . It is a fantastic guitar no doubt.

How much of this guitar is hollow ..just the area of the f hole right ? the lower portion is the usual routed thing correct ? It could be or could have been made like a 335 with that kind of control mount manner and had both sides hollow.

God love it....why is Daphne Blue or Surf Green not color options on this guitar?! Always with the Vintage White or 2 Tone Burst....why?!

It's because those are the colors the Eric decided on. He really likes those colors for his own guitars, so he sticks to those on his signature Strats.

Livingthat Twelvelife Understood, I just get frustrated because I love the neck profile and vintage tint, plus his pickups sound amazing, so I'd love to see those qualities on an off the rack Strat in my two favorite finishes without having to go through the Custom Shop.

Livingthat Twelvelife I always feel petty about my guitars having to be either Daphne Blue or Surf Green, but if I'm going to invest in a guitar, I need to love it and that's one way to get me there...I need the guitar to have one of those two finishes! Nice to know I'm not the only one that pays attention to the finish of the guitar, most people I talk to feel the same way.

Fender japan made a thinline hh and sss strat for one year and it was like 1600 didnt do well. Put ej name on it and its gonna smash I always did like the idea of the semi hollow strat. Bad ass
