    Eric Gales isn't naturally left handed, he learned to play guitar from his left handed brother, and just thought that was the way you should play the instrument. Amazingly talented guitarist.

    @@davidrpriest Same with me. I was a kid and always wanted to play like my dad. He's right handed and I'm left handed but I just learned to play right handed and never had a problem. I do get some laughs though when people see me playing and writing with opposite hands.

    SwiftnessGamer Nope. This guy has the bass strings where the treble strings would go and vice verse. Jimi restrung the strings so they were in a normal orientation even though the guitar was upside down.

    yeah. he is using right handed guitar and string set up, playing it upside down. high e at top, low E at the bottim. while Jimi and most left handed restrung the string with common orientation, 1-6 = e to E

    What I like about Gales is he has that Buddy Guy thing going on whereby he almost treats the guitar as a toy, has huge amounts of fun playing and gives it all to the audience.

    I had the great fortune to see him in Savannah, GA 25 years ago touring to support The Eric Gales Band’s debut record when he was just 16 years old old. It was one of the most amazing shows I’ve ever seen. Their first two releases are finally on iTunes. The dude is genuine and you can see he puts his heart into what he does.

    Reminds me of why I started watching Joe Bonamassa back when he was younger. He played crazy like this and I wish he'd do it again. This guy brings it back and I hope he stays true to himself and continues to impress us with unbelievable playing!!!

    Absolutely brilliant and an incredible talent. First saw him at Terra Blues on Bleecker St in NYC 1992. Maybe 20 people there and he and his band completely owned the place and were unforgettable

    EVERY now and then (LONG time between), I will come across talent/performance that is so far beyond great, that I either I want to go back to bed and put my pillow over my head AND/OR inspire me to write and play my best for a year or two .. or more! Seeing this video this morning was one of those times !! Breathtaking Mr. Gales !! I am a songwriter and play keys. THANK YOU for the inspiration for a long time!! THIS IS NOT A BRAG but I knew and played and recorded with Jimi back then! I I was blessed to be there in the "scene" in 1968-69. He would have LOVED to hear and see you. He was one of the kindest human beings I ever meant. Thank you for your inspiration and who you are - it's easy to see !! AND your band is "OFF the charts" !!! Peace !!

    Duane as you and Eric spoke about inspiration first time I heard RED HOUSE I said I want play guitar like that it took me a year to save my money I was 14 back then everybody said I was wasting money because like most it would just sit in the case in some closet but here's my point that inspiration is powerful music is everything to me and that one song called RED HOUSE BY THE GREAT JIMI HENDRIX INSPIRED THAT 14 YEAR OLD BOY THAT THESE DAYS NOW AT 51 YEARS OLD I HAVE A LITTLE RECORDONG STUDIO SET UP IN MY HOUSE WITH 12 GUITARS THAT LINE THE ALL 4 WALLS IN THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF THAT CREATION BACK THEN AND YES MUSIC WHEN PLAYED FROM WITHIN ONE'S SOUL IS POWERFUL AND WHEN INSPIRATION TAKES OVER YOU JUST HANG ON AND ENJOY THE RIDE AND GIVE THANKS THE ARTIST THAT CREATED THE MASTERPIECE.     He's not naturally left handed, actually. He just started playing the guitar upside down because he copied his brother who as left handed and played as such. Quite interesting, really.

    I saw Eric Gales perform in a club in California was back in 1993. I was very impressed with him, and I thought that he'd become a big star. He did not become anywhere near as big of a star as I thought he'd become, because he is still an amazing musician.

    I don't know what it is about Eric's style but, there's something wicked here. There's something about this guy over most players that really impresses me quite a bit over the mainstream "Guitar Gods". His picking technique is just wicked not to mention (more so) his phrasing. Wicked guitarist even when running Eric Johnson style patterns. I've seen a number of his vids on here - hats off to Mr Gales. Killer player.

    He must like the EJ strat. You would think he would be playing a custom shop, especially being at Sweetwater music. I'm sure they'd loan him any guitar they had.     @ he means the strings are also upside down. Literally a right handed guitar flipped the other way without changing the string orientation

    I like the tune selections to medley with and the guitar finish and the style he used. I don't always see many of my favorite thing up on stage. Thanks Eric Gale. Hope I get a chance to let others hear this.

    I’ve been playing and listening to guitar now for 30+ years and this guy is interesting to listen to genuinely unique and somehow surprising in a genre I had thought to be almost exhausted. God Bless Him!
