Eric: Discworld, Book 9 - Terry Pratchett

Eric is the Discworld's only demonology hacker. Pity he's not very good at it.
All he wants is his three wishes granted. Nothing fancy-to be immortal, rule the world, have the most beautiful woman in the world fall madly in love with him, the usual stuff.
But instead of a tractable demon, he calls up Rincewind, probably the most incompetent wizard in the universe, and the extremely intractable and hostile form of travel accessory known as the Luggage.
With them on his side, Eric's in for a ride through space and time that is bound to make him wish (quite fervently) again-this time that he'd never been born.
Eric is the fourth book in the Wizards series, but you can listen to the Discworld novels in any order. The first book in the Discworld series-The Colour of Magic-was published in 1983. Some elements of the Discworld universe may reflect this

@@mrnice7570 yeah idk why they get who they do for the books. Like I'd rather a male read the male character books and female read rhe female ones. I don't much like Sian narrating all of deaths books.

As a welshman i grinned like a maniac when the S4C reference popped up. I'm old enough to remember when S4C was like that, wall tonwall Eisteddfod all day

👽 Many thanks to Khoi Le for offering us this story of genius & love . The more that people are able to read Pratchett's work, most of it, perhaps our chances might improve Improve on straightening out this insane planet. There's always a chance! Truth is truth in any form. 🌎 👽💫

Pratchett - like Douglas Adams - had such a bogglingly sharp and funny mind, where every single sentence is dancing around, both funny and often very smart too. A person can't write that way by any amount of study and practice, their very minds were wired in that playful and happy way, and it's impossible to measure how much happiness they brought into the world. I really struggle to find book series which affect me in the same way - i'm well at the point where re-listening/reading to Discworld or Hitchhikers Guide books is less and less fresh and effective, but as much as i've found good stuff, it's never quite as wonderful. RN i'm trying one called "Dungeon Crawler Carl" which is totally worth checking out.

I like this different version of death and rincewind. Will always love Nigel’s but this was a fun change The narrator really thrives once they get to hell and all the demons and tortured souls are complaining

I loved Nigel Planers interpretation of Rincewind making you feel he was Neil from the Young Ones. Perfect! Sorry Colin, not really doing it for me
