Had no idea this existed. There's real love here.
Beautiful tribute to The Grand Master Jaco Pastorius !!!

agree, finally a positive comment!
Never thought I'd see this kind of tribute from EC ,wonderful.
This is beautiful. To all the haters in this comments section, if the tribute were to be just a cover with no changes whatsoever, that would be lame. Clapton made his own interpretation of the tune, and that is the best way to pay respects to a musician. All you haters probably can't even think of an interpretation half as good as Clapton's.

You sure like to use childish cliches like “haters”. When you reach puberty, you’ll look back and see how infantile your comments are.

@@Coowallsky Hey man, all I'm doing is providing my take on the situation. You don't have to insult me for sharing my opinion just because you disagree. This is why the internet is in such a horrible state today. When people see that someone likes something they don't like, they get angry and look for ways to make the other person feel bad for no reason. Please don't do that.
Musicians brotherhood cries on heroes, left too early !! R.I.P.
Absolutely a most Wonderful Tribute, from Eric, Mark, Nathan, Alan, Phil & Company! Jaco you're missed. (P.S. Don't tell Eric, but what a Superb Jazz guitarist he could be!!)
Love Weather Report
Have to agree….Critics relax….The fact that EC acknowledged Jaco in this way is a wonderful gesture…regardless of the “imperfections”. Kudos to Eric for the gesture.
I've been watching what you have been putting on You Tube for quite some time AND I must say, you have got some great ideas and great performances of Clapton...I just love that man and his music...Thanks to slunky 08 for all the great videos of Eric....
Not heard this before, Slunky. A stellar line-up. Great to see you back :-)
Lighten up jazz critics. It's not the Zawinul Shorter Pastorius triumvirate. They'll never be another. For Clapton to share his love for this most beautiful Zawinul ballad (which Joe wrote with Jaco's achingly lovely tone in mind) is beautiful. While Eric the (rock guitar player) plays some lines over the EbMaj7 - DbMaj7 vamp, I can see him grabbing his Stratocaster the first time he heard this tune, saying 'What a beautiful tune'.

Eberhard Weber maybe the most "singing" base player. Another genre, but somehow "jaco-esk" kzread.info/dash/bejne/pX9rp7qjZMyydsY.html
I was lucky to be there!!
Got goose bumps as the base started voicing after a good, mood setting piano intro.

Try "weather report" far superior
Also played at Brisbane concert 1987
Some tasteful tambourine here from Ray Cooper, always a commanding presence.
I believe this is Nathan East's favourite Weather report song😊

For those who criticize this loving tribute: Don't like it? Let's hear YOURS. On your own KZread channel, if anyone bothers to visit.

Get over yourself.
Nathan East played, on this occasion, an upright stick bass not the one shown in the pictures!
Eric Clapton didn't play RAH on 3rd January 1988. He did 9 dates at RAH between 25th January to 4th February. See whereseric.com tour archives.

Poor arrangement for guitarists not to be able to play on jazzy chords. Must listen beauty of original Weather Report.
Well-intentioned, Eric, but... Dire Straits plays Weather Report? Nah...
Dont ever do that again eric. Lol
@2:43 some dork guitarist plays a FLAT NINE on a MAJ SEVENTH chord! This version is so dreadfully atrocious.
@redbug3485

It's an Ellaboration. Not a tribute or Cover, being that Joe Zawinal actually composed it, then Jaco laid his Bass on it!
Stick to blues rock, guys.
Atrocious. Simply atrocious. Jaco died a second time.

I agree, this version gave nothing to the integrity of the composition. Not a hint of voicing. Nice thought though.
compare to the original this just ugly..guitaroinoinoinoining over Zawinul masterpiece ?a joke..
Alcoholfree beer, decoffeinated coffee, meatless bratwurst. World class composition downgraded for a One-Dollar-Shop. Another proof, Clapton is immensly overrated.
Disappointing.
