They say that he's a splendid blues guitarist but I say that he's much bigger than just that. Never took any interest in _Concerto for Electric Guitar_ before, only to fall in love with it just now. How he manages to have those expressions of a shy school kid who, after setting a stage on fire, receives massive applause from the audience and he feels uncomfortable due to the overwhelming attention; is beyond me! This man always brings tears into my eyes. I'm just thankful to be living on the same planet & at the same time as he is.

This is pure mastery of a gift. EC said in an interview once his guitar playing is just a voice - just him singing really and having the experience to play with your hand what you hear in your head. I’ve played guitar for 55+ years and I’m still looking for the key to unlock this magic.

The Rondo part always get me musically. The piece was the highlight of his stay RAH imo. Love how Eric change the big solos every time. RIP Michael Kamen

As much as Eric was into improvisation with Cream, he has developed a sense of precision and delicacy in his solo years that truly cemented his musical voice. The blending of his guitar and the orchestra is underrated and should have been lauded as one of his finest guitar performances during his time. And they played for 30 minutes! I digress, damn I hear shades of the chord progression from Still Got the Blues by Gary Moore in the second part.

His notes swim like an easy day then sharpen like a logger's axe. Range and tone, and smooth as Slowhand is, appearances can deceive. Like a guy called Tiny, coz he is huge, Slow is a fast grace to the cables. Play on...
