Bugs Bunny, Tweety, Marvin The Martian, Daffy Duck, Woodpecker are just some of the iconic cartoon characters that we have loved and grew up watching. But has it ever crossed your mind who are the people behind these voices?
In this So Cool episode, we invited Eric Bauza, a Canadian-Filipino-American voice actor who has brought to life hundreds of characters in television, film, and video games in the past few years. His love for voice over began upon discovering a microphone on a karaoke machine in his parents’ house when he was a kid. He shares that it was not a talent that he was born with. Rather, it was a skill that he had to develop and nurture.
Eric studied radio, television, and film production in college and eventually found an opportunity in voice over when he applied as an intern in an animation studio in Los Angeles. He also recalls that his audition for El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera, an animated television series for Nickelodeon, opened so many doors for him in the world of voice acting.
Looking back on his journey and accomplishments, he attributes his success to the people who believed in him and rooted for his growth. As Eric would say, “I have again lucked out with finding so many people who trust me and they want to see me go far, they want to see me succeed. Not just my talent or my luck, but there are people that just have, by their good grace, gave me the chance to be a part of their story.”
In the future, he plans on creating his very own series or show and animate new characters with his very own voice.
