Eriba familia restoration part 1

Ойын-сауық

Eriba Familia 310gt from 1992
Having discovered that I had a rust issue around the edge of the caravan I’ve set about to restore it over the coming weeks and months. I hope to take it apart enough that I replace the metal that needs replacing and put it back together to how it was originally.
Part1 shows how I took it apart taking all the cabinetry out to enable the floor to be removed so that I can refabricate the metal frame

Hi thanks for watching , the interior walls are a kind of hardboard with a wall paper on it which is stuck on at the time of manufacturing they are wipe clean but can damage if knocked to hard .

Nice work! I am wondering though, how this frame got so rusty? They say "fully galvanized frame" on new Eribas now. Were they also galvanized back in the early 90's and before? I am asking becouse I own a polish Predom N126N from '91which can be described as "socialistic/more primitive fiberglass copy of Eriba Familia 310" Not with the body looks but layout and most of the solutions inside are exactly the same (copied). Anyways I want to tell you that fully galvanized frame of my caravan looks like new after those 30 years. And nobody gets any problems with those Predom galvanised frames. I am planning to get myself Familia 310 and now you got me scared that they rust like hell 😳😁

I have just purchased a 1994 Eriba familia 310. Had a service today and it is very damp. Mainly around the windows. Would you be able to give a quote to rip out what’s needed and make good or is it not your line of work.

Sorry I’m only doing this as a bit of a hobby , if you have a lot of damp around the window you can take the panels off inside to see the damage it’s only a covered hardboard so you can replace that plus the polystyrene is easily replaced too, the window rubbers can be bought on line and put back in with a bit of silicone and care , alternatively try Kool classics eriba caravan restorers in the south of England they maybe able to help . Good luck I hope you get this sorted 🤓

@@stevebradfield5939 thanks Steve. I do want to look behind the wall. If I replaced that hardwood. Is that just plywood? What thickness do you think.? Also I have watched your video a few times but still can’t work out. What’s the walls made up from. There is the outer shell then is it just polysterine abd then plywood.
