You can strengthen and seal the seams of a plywood boat using paper seam taper immersed in Titebond 3.

Having worked with epoxy it was such a pleasure to watch you use the drywall tape and water and titebond. Let's not forget you also didn't have to sand when you are done. I have been thinking about a little sailboat I could build and store in my apartment for a long time. I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos.

Thanks, I agree. This process could be used on any stitch and glue design. Some people have entered the Florida Everglades Challenge (a 3-6 day adventure) with Titebond 3 joints. It’s great for day sailing and who knows what it’s limits are?

Cool stuff Mark. I might just give this a go. I have plenty of TB2/3

Go for it. TB3 is stronger than TB2 but it takes a bit longer to dry. It is more waterproof than TB2. I used about half a gallon for the whole boat, about $14 in glue and $2 worth of paper. The sawdust for the inner fillets was free (supplied by my bandsaw). Best, Mark

Use a clothesline and pins to hang the tape allowing saturation time while preparing the next piece..

I’ve restored a lot of boats, which provides extensive insight to how and why things work and fail in that environment... 🤔⛵️🤓

Hello! fantastic work! have you come across the "fibafuse" drywall tape? I'm curious if it's any stronger given that it's made of "fiber glass"

I tested it. The paper is stronger. I posted a video. It’s called “fiberglass vs paper boat seams”
